Hi Jessie I have run this tool on a lot more polygons. I suspect something else my be at play, as Dan suggests, perhaps overlapping polygons. I gather you would have linked the zonal stats table back to your polygon data. Select those with zero values and run zonal stats tool just on these to see if perhaps now the balance of the units can be populated with soil data. Cheers Mervyn

Hi Jessie I would convert my soil data to raster, and then use *Zonal statistics as table tool* to and Majority statistics type to sect the most common soil type in each polygon. Regards Mervyn

Hi Kelly If I understand your question correctly, then the solution is found under the Contents pane where you simply need to change the order in which the features are drawn (i.e. the scale bar should be above a white box). Just click and drag the item/element to change the order. Regards

Hi Curtis The new interface is really great ... and I like the similarity to model builder as a workflow. I have made the suggested changes my elevation raster function. I have also been trying to apply symbology to my custom raster functions and it is unfortunate that it does not accept Layer files. I am struggling to have my color ramps applied to my raster function. Thanks for advice.

Sorry, hit send to soon. For those of you interested in this discussion and using Raster Functions to extract values, I will end by adding in a screenshot of the Function Editor where I was able to use the Greater than and Con functions together that returned the actual elevation values above a certain threshold (1400 m in this example). If there a simpler way of doing so, I would love to hear from you, but it was possible :-). Thanks to Dan, Adrian and Curtis for helping.

Hi Curtis Thank you for advice. I was able to successfully use the Greater than function using the function editor to extract all areas above a certain elevation (output had values of 0 or 1). See below image. What I figured out was that I needed to add an elevation threshold under the second input raster. I would have thought there may be an option for providing a threshold but this worked. Is this the correct workflow or should I have added elevation threshold as a Constant instead of Raster Variable? I did not need the Con function .... but I wanted to see if i could get it to work. I managed to do so although I found that when stringing together two or more functions then I need to add altitude threshold as a constant as I could no longer edit the Raster2 in the Greater than function without opening the Function Editor and manually changing it.

Hi Dan (and others) I agree that using the Con statement is a bit of an overkill but I was struggling to find a "function" that I could use to extract values using *Raster Functions*. I agree 100% with your suggestion if I used the Raster Calculator tool to perform the analysis. In my call for help, the problem with the Raster Calculator is that it creates an output raster to disk. I am looking for a method to create a temporary feature that shows the elevation (in my example), without creating an output raster. Raster Functions are really great in creating these temporary products for visualization and analysis and I am starting to use them more frequently these days. So I was looking for an appropriate raster function that I could use to extract values from a DEM. I just cant figure out how. Under the Help menu in Pro ( https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/imagery/list-of-raster-functions.htm) there is a section on Raster functions, specifically "*What are the functions used by a raster or mosaic dataset*?", which lists the various function available with a brief description of each. Some functions of those listed only apply to overlapping rasters (like the arithmetic function). The "basket" of functions which may include the answer to my problem is probably under the Local Functions ( https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/imagery/local-function.htm). The Greater than function only works on two or more rasters so I cant consider this function as a solution. I still think that the Con raster function may provide the necessary output. There is also a Calculator Raster Function but I cant figure out how it works. It would be great if the Help section provided some examples. The help item on the Con function states "*When a Con operator is used, there usually needs to be two or more local functions chained together, where one local function states the criteria and the second local function is the Con operator which uses the criteria and dictates what the true and false outputs should be*." I have tried the Function Editor but no luck in figuring out how to insert the statement or string together the Con functions in any sensible manner. To summarise, I am still hoping that it is possible to use Raster Functions to extract values from a DEM, whether using Con functions or any other function (or string of functions as a template). I have in the past occasionally used Symbology to manually classify my elevation into two classes using a certain elevation threshold, but using a Raster Function would be far more efficient and elegant .... Best wishes, Mervyn

HI there I would like to use a Con statement in a Raster Function so that I do not have create a new raster every time I want to query values in a raster (DEM). I am working in Pro 1.2. For example, if I wanted to view all areas above 350 m above sea level, using the Raster Calculator in Spatial Analyst I would have traditionally inserted the following statement: Con("altitude1">350,1). This would create a new raster for my query. So I tried using a Raster Function. I am able to open the Con properties window for a raster function in Pro, but I cant figure out how to enter any parameters (other than what is provided in the screenshot, which deals with rasters, cell size and output extent). I am pretty sure Raster Functions should be able to extract the desired DEM values, perhaps I am using the wrong function or simply just not using it correctly? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Dear Dan and Adrian Thanks for the advice and comments. Dan, from what I can gather is that the coordinates you see in your screen shot are actually from the attribute table of the point feature being queried. This is the behavior that I observe (see below screenshot - clicking on polygon and point features). Using this approach for determining coordinates would require that one can only query known point features which have the coordinates in the attribute table. Adrian, the " What's here?" tool is dependent on the use the ESRI World Geocoder service (and any other locate providers added under settings) to highlight the points of interest and coordinates of the features close to where one is clicking on the map. This approach could work well in urban environments where there are many points of interest available. Disabling the geocoder in the locator settings results in no features being returned and no pop-up windows with coordinates opened. My current area of interest is Mozambique and the data is seemingly much more sparse as very few records are returned when trying the What's here? tool. I have added several of my larger feature layers with a good coverage to the Locate tool using the Create Address Locator geoprocessing tool, such as rivers and a gazetteer for Mozambique, hence I am able to get some success when there are features close by. To Dan and Adrian, thank you for the two suggestions but neither can fully provide the functionality that was available in ArcMap. I will try and add as a suggestion to the ArcGIS Ideas site once I can login to the site (I have never been successful in doing so). Luckily I see the Ideas site is migrating to Geonet.

Hi Dan Thank you for the links and taking the time to reply. You really are quite extraordinary in the kind manner if which you so freely and enthusiastically help all of us struggling to master Pro (and other Esri products). Thank you! Back to my problem at hand, I did explore your links and the Explore tool's functionality but I still cant find any way of extracting the coordinates for a point when I click on a map. The pop-up window would be where I would expect it and I hope it can be integrated into this window at some point. To me it seems very useful to know the exact coordinates for a point queried. Judging from the response to my query, I gather that it is currently not possible to extract the coordinates as hoped. Best wishes, Mervyn

ArcMap's Identify tool is really useful for clicking on a map view, then providing the coordinates for the point being queried under the Location window on the Identify tool pop-up. For me, it is really easy and useful tool for assisting with the georeferencing of localities by first finding them in ArcMap, then copying the locality information and pasting it into a database. I am unable to find any similar tool for doing the same in AcrGIS Pro 1.2. Am I missing something? The Measure features tool under the Inquiry menu comes close but only selects features and does not provide coordinates. I am hoping there is a tool that provides coordinates by simply clicking somewhere on a map. I really hope I am just not seeing it .....? Cheers Mervyn

Hi there I would just like to provide an update to this post of mine. I did submit a repo case in December 2015 and this is a bug in Pro 1.1 (BUG-000092927: : Duplicate labels are appeared in the Exported Map as a TIFF, JPEG or PNG in ArcGIS Pro). I did not read that this bug had been fixed in Pro 1.2's release notes and I can confirm that it has not yet been fixed in the official release of Pro 1.2. I am sure to Pro dev team have a lot on their plate. Regards Mervyn BUG-000092927

Hi there Since the launch of ArcGIS Pro on the 2 March, I have been unable to open my ArcGIS Pro 1.2 Beta that I had authorized to work offline. When trying to open Pro, I first get asked to sign in as Pro wants to access my ArcGIS Online account information (even though license is offline). Then once I have provided my online details, I am told that "The account cannot be used to authorize ArcGIS Pro as it has already been configured to use in offline mode on some other device". I simply want to login to deauthorize my account for offline use so that I can upgrade to Pro 1.2. I was advised to uninstall my Beta software, reinstall Pro 1.1, then try and deauthorise to work offline. I am hesitant to do so as I dont want to loose/corrupt my named user account (possible?). I suspect I am not alone in this predicament and I am hoping somebody else may have found a workaround for this or should I install Pro 1.1? Regards Mervyn
