Hi Ismael, You mentioned the fix of iOS crashing bugs in the 'Next Step' and they were planned to be fixed by end of April. I wonder if these bugs have been fixed. Thank you.

Hello Joseph, Was this question added to the published survey after it was shared with the groups? Since the survey has been shared with groups, you and the others are looking at different feature services (views). I guess this is similar to what you are seeing: Problem: Survey results are not updated in Survey123 for ArcGIS Cheers, Sun

Hi Joseph, If you are referring to the geopoint question, I would use pulldata() to extract the information. https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/11/03/extracting-information-from-geopoint-questions Cheers, Sun

I suggest checking if the name of the csv is exactly the same (uppercase and lowercase letters) as the one you put in the pulldata() function. Check the field names as well if you can. Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your csv? Just the headers and some example data. Cheers, Sun

Hi Aaron, I think the function you are looking for is substr(). More information can be found on the Formulas page. Formulas—Survey123 for ArcGIS | Documentation Cheers, Sun

Hello David, I think the function your are looking for is the format-date function. You can just format the recorded datetime value to year only. Details of this function can be found in the Date formatting section of the Formulas page. Formulas—Survey123 for ArcGIS | Documentation Cheers, Sun

Hello James, I wonder if there's any other restriction on the use of special characters in the external_choices label column, in particular 'Semi-colon' ( ; ), 'Asterisk' ( * ) and 'Hyphen-minus' ( - ) (this is what Excel created when type in hyphen or minus). I think these special characters are not allowed in the [column names] and [name] values in the choice lists, but they are allowed in the [label] values in the choice lists. Are they also allowed in the [label] values when being used in the external_choices and saved out as the 'itemsets.csv'? I know csv doesn't like some special characters. Furthermore, are they allowed in the external csv tables for pulldata()? I have been using 'Hyphen-minus' ( - ) as negative sign in the external csv tables and it works fine so far. My reference is the XLSForm.org, it mentions the use of special characters in csv for pulldata(): In addition, the 'Hyphen' in the Special Characters list in Survey123 Connect template is actually 'Hyphen-minus' ( - ), not the actual 'Hyphen' ( ‐ ). All Special Characters lists in the Survey123 support document pages are also using 'Hyphen-minus'. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Zhifang Wang Ismael Chivite Kind Regards, Jing Sun

Hello All, In the Publish Options section of this page, Enable Sync is required if the survey uses an offline basemap. Publish your survey—Survey123 for ArcGIS | Documentation I wonder if this is still required if the offline basemap we plan to use does not have any feature layer. We have published the survey with this option disabled, then successfully downloaded and using the offline basemap in the field app. What would the potential issue be in this scenario? Any comment would be appreciated. Thank you. Cheers, Sun

Hi Craig, What we are trying to do is simply a cascading selects without actually having the first question. It essentially is a very similar method described by Doug, and the 'field' he mentioned is the hidden question I described above. In this example, add a column 'column_1' (the name could be anything you want) to both 'choices' and 'external_choices' worksheets, fill this column with 'A' (your dummy value) in the 'external_choices' worksheet and do nothing to the 'choices' worksheet. Then change the expression in your choice filter to column_1=${hidden_question}. It means: for this question, look for the choices in the external_choices list with value 'A' in the 'column_1' column. That being said, if you only have one list (either region or town) in the external_choices worksheet, you don't need to do anything I describe in this reply, simply delete the hidden question and change the expression in the choice filter to something like 1=1, this will load all the values in the external_choices worksheet - but this doesn't improve the performance. Cheers, Sun

Hi Craig, If you simply want to have a select_one_external question but do not want a cascading selects, you can just add a hidden question before the select_one_external question. The string you input into the hidden question's 'default' column can then be used as the answer of a previous question. This way the cascading selects is not required to utilise the external choices. Something like this: Cheers, Sun

Hello Jim, Thank you. To summarise: Number(${question}) = 0 when ${question} is a string question & returns an empty string (''). Number(${question}) = NaN when ${question} is a integer/decimal question & returns an empty value (NaN). My research shows that an empty value (NaN) is treated as a numeric value, and number() does nothing to the numeric value, hence the output is NaN if the input is NaN. Cheers, Sun

Hi Bruno, I think we are talking about the same method - create map area in AGOL. And my understanding of the current limitation is, whatever what you have in the map package created in AGOL, Survey123 can only display the basemap layer. Cheers, Sun

Hello, Please have a look at the 'Create a map package in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise' section of this page: Prepare basemaps for offline use—Survey123 for ArcGIS | Documentation It says Only the basemaps from a map area can be used in the Survey123 field app. Each basemap layer can be downloaded as a separate offline map package. Operational layers and labels in the map area are not be displayed. I'm not sure whether we can include layers in the future but I don't think we can do it at the moment. Cheers, Sun

Hi Filip, I think the solution you are looking for is using 'relevant'. Relevant can be used to display question based on some conditions. For example, if you put something like 'number(${layer_1_depth}) + number(${layer_2_depth}) + ..... number(${layer_n_depth}) < 100' in a question, it will be displayed if the sum of all layer is less than 100. This blog explains the 'relevant' and gives many examples: https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/05/28/the-art-of-hiding Kind Regards, Sun
