The subnetwork name field (the UN equivalent of feeder id) isn't automatically updated, much like with feeder manager 2.0 you must run a separate command to populate the field. In this case you must run update subnetwork. In addition to this, many customers configure their subnetworks to not update the field when in a named version (for performance reasons). You should be able to verify that the features are energized by running a subnetwork trace. The subnetwork name field (feederid) will become populated once the version is posted to SDE.Default and update subnetwork is run on SDE.Default.

@RoswithaLauterbach ah, that makes sense that the relationship wasn't showing up if you weren't including the M:N relationship in the map. M:N relationships, or any other form of attributed relationship, use a table to represent the related data. If it's not included in the service, then the application can't access the table that tells it which features are related.

If all you're interested in doing is having a single-user database that you can work on locally, then a local geodatabase may be all you need. If you want others in your organization to be able to access the data, you'll need to have shared services shared through ArcGIS Enterprise. This is especially true if you want to support any sort of web or mobile applications.

Structural attachments are used to associate the connectivity of the domain network with the structure that support that network, which is a different requirement than what the customer has. The Feature restrictions page of the ArcGIS Help shows that you cannot directly attach a Line to a Junction. Any feature can only have a single attachment, so even if you could attach a line to a pole the M:N cardinality would be a problem. If you want to model these as structural attachments, you'll need to attach a device or junction to the pole that is connected to the line. This overcomes both the restrictions (structure/line and M:N), but requires using select by location to show which poles/conductors are related. You could also bring over the relationship class.

If you have any attribute rules configured on a layer you are running a field calculate on, and you haven't already configured triggering fields to prevent them from firing, that could also be responsible for the slowness you're seeing.

If you want to model the customer's infrastructure, past the service connection, you can. You would want to create these as devices with a directional terminal configuration (similar to a check valve) so traces would take the directionality of the backflow prevention devices into account. Do you really want to create, and more importantly do you want to maintain, this extra level of detail in your model? If a customer makes changes to the water infrastructure on their side of the connection, will you be notified about this (assuming they properly permit and construct it?). Are you going to be able to extract enough additional business value from this data to offset the cost of data collection and maintenance?

@SanchezNuñez That domain defines all the Asset Types for the "Low Distribution Main" Asset Group assigned to the Sewer Device class. If you add a value/description to that domain you are adding an asset type, changing the description of a coded value is renaming an asset type, and removing a code/description from the domain is deleting an asset type. We currently do not support renaming or deleting asset types.

This is covered in this page in the online help: Utility network management tasks—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Renaming asset types is not currently supported (as discussed in this community thread). Adding new asset types can be done, once the topology is disabled, but you must make sure that you apply any other necessary configurations while the topology is disabled like adding rules, network categories, and updating any relevant subnetwork definitions to include the new asset type as a valid line/device/etc.

While this feature is planned to be added in a future release, you currently need to export the utility network to an asset package, make the change, and stand up a new geodatabase. You will not be able to retain history or versions through this process, so you should think carefully before doing this and ensure there aren't any other significant changes you need to make at the same time.

What @CodyPatterson is describing sounds like about 2x the specs of the reference architecture for a mid-sized gas utility (300k connections). You can find one of the test studies for that architecture (including performance graphs) here: Test Study for a Network Information Management System Gas Utility (SQL Server) | ArcGIS Architecture Center

To properly determine these answers, you'd need to go through a capacity planning exercise that takes into account your specific workflows and expected loads. Outside if that, you can find guidance on the ArcGIS Architecture Library on how to begin to size a system. You can also find reference architectures and test studies that show system utilization for specific logical/physical configurations (with specs of the hardware used).

Is there a reason why you wouldn't draw the feature in-line? Even if you were to use junction-junction associations or non-spatial objects to represent the meter itself, you'd still need to have it be associated with a network feature that participates in a subnetwork in order to include it in tracing and analysis. By making it a feature (as opposed to a non-spatial object) it makes it much easier for you to visualize any measurements associated with the meter by either joining the latest reading to the layer or using a popup (or relate) to show all the readings associated with the meter.
