Geocoding and geosearch—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS  By default, ArcGIS Online uses Esri World Geocoding Service to find addresses, cities, landmarks, business names, and postal codes in more than 100 countries around the world. Additionally, Esri World Geocoding Service is used to find the location of x,y coordinates using longitude and latitude, as well as coordinate reference systems such as Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) and United States National Grid (USNG). If your organization wants to optimize search results for addresses and places of interest, members with privileges to create content can use ArcGIS Online to create a new view of Esri World Geocoding Service to search only for specific types of locations within an area of interest. For example, you might create a locator view to limit search results to a particular country or area or to only return results that match a specific category such as street addresses or airports. Administrators can configure your organization to use your locator view when members perform geosearches. Create a locator view In ArcGIS Online, you can create a new view of Esri World Geocoding Service to search only for specific types of locations within an area of interest. Hi again aviris‌ I went through the workflow that you describe above and I don't experience the performance lags that you describe.  If that is a persistent issue, it would be necessary to log a case with technical support to troubleshoot. Regarding the UI issue of the symbolized field switching when you change renderers, we've shared that with the map authoring team and they'll take a look at it.  For the proportional symbols not displaying as expected in the Contents pane, this is already a known issue that they will be working to address in an upcoming release.   Some of the other items you list are things that we're already aware of and are working to improve.  We are interested in the performance issue you describe though and it would be good for you to troubleshoot that specifically with an analyst.  Thank you. ... Thanks, Robert.  I think I am seeing what you're seeing now.   I'm not sure that we're really using the same imported maps, but here is what I'm doing. Import C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\US_2016\Data\2016 Business Analyst.mxd 10 times into a Pro project.  Save the project. Opening the project takes 13-14 minutes.  I'm going to pass this along to the development team to take a look at this from the Pro performance side of things. From the workflow side of things, we may need to rethink about best practices for bringing BA mxds into a Pro project.  For example, if most of the data being brought over really is just used as reference/basemap data, we don't need to include that at all.  Maybe create layer files of the data of interest and add to a Pro map?  Are you able to use the provided online basemaps?  Just thinking through ways we might get you moving quickly again... ... Hi Chris, Thanks for the input.  We want you to be productive with Pro so I took a look at this workflow to see what can be improved in Pro to make the workflow, if not faster, at least the same as ArcMap. Ready: Check the assigned coordinate system of an aerial image.  Go: Catalog: Because you can keep Catalog open on your 2nd monitor all it needs is a browse to the folder, right click, left click and short scroll and TIME! Pro: Still trying to figure out where to save my blank new project. I'm assuming you just have a file in a Windows directory on one monitor and you want to know its coordinate system so you're using ArcCatalog on a second monitor?  Because if we have the layer in ArcMap, I would just right-click either the layer in the Table Of Contents > Properties and scroll down to the spatial reference, or right-click the file in the Catalog window inside ArcMap (I usually have that open) > Properties and scroll down to the spatial reference. In ArcGIS Pro, the steps are actually exactly the same.  I have a raster layer in my Contents pane, so I right-click > Properties and see the spatial reference.  Or, if I have the Catalog Pane open (like I have the Catalog window open in ArcMap), I find the file, right-click > Properties and find the spatial reference. If we're talking about the "file in a Windows directory and I want to know the coordinate system" scenario, you have ArcCatalog open on a second monitor.  The equivalent in Pro would be to have it open on your second monitor with the Catalog View open.  Again, though, in ArcCatalog we right-click > Properties and get the spatial reference.  In Pro's Catalog View we right-click > Properties and get the spatial reference. So on this particular workflow, I don't see the difference.  Since there is no difference with that workflow, it sounds like the major pain point is  This really has to do with teaching them/us to customize/configure Pro to not make a new folder/FGDB/etc for a specific blank project or create a data management-specific Project that contains links to all data sources and is pinned to the opening screen. Yes, this is feedback that we're well aware of and is a combination of a few different ideas on the Ideas site.  I want to assure you that the development team is getting this feedback and we are looking at ways to continue improving Pro so that you can maintain the high level of productivity that you've become accustomed to when working with ArcMap/ArcCatalog...   Thanks again for your input.  I just wanted to reach out so you know we are listening and we do take this feedback seriously. ... In the string here we never got the version of Pro that you're using.  You say that you have reasonably complex maps that are using  as basemaps .bds files from Business Analyst (v 1.4) Did you mean v 10.4?  What .bds files are you using in those maps that you're importing?  And/or are the mxds starting from the standard Business Analyst mxd? I know this isn't where you wanted to go with this post, a whole bunch of questions to try to help figure out what is going on, but any additional information you could provide would be helpful.  We can see how we do trying to troubleshoot this through GeoNet, but honestly we might make more headway more quickly through a support case. ...
