I was happy to see new updates for 35 urban areas. Global urban areas updated with Pléiades imagery | ArcGIS Blog It says "Future releases of Pléiades imagery are planned in the coming months with the collection expected to cover approximately 350 urban areas by the first half of 2015." Is there a list of which those 350 urban areas? Thanks! Kirk

I'm using INetworkLoader3 to build a geometric network. I'd like to show progress on the UI. It appears INetworkLoaderProgress is designed for this purpose, but I don't see how to use it. Also I see INetworkLoaderProgress_Sinkhelper class (not interface), but again, no examples of using it. Can someone post some code showing how to do this? Thanks!

I'm trying to make a custom line symbol that matches the railroad symbol available in arcmap. In arcmap, there is the notion of a multi-layer linesymbol. I'm unable to find a corresponding object in silverlight though. Is there some trick that would allow me to implement a ControlTemplate such that it contains an ordered collection of Paths, instead of just a single Path? Additionally, I'd like to specify an offset for the Path, as I can with the Cartographic Line symbol in arcmap. Thanks!

To reproduce: Start with a map where wraparound == true. Pan to 100 degrees longitude. Add a polygon graphic to a graphics layer. Pan to 460 degrees, select the graphic and used EditGeometry to edit it. Notice how it can be moved scaled, rotated etc. Notice how you CANNOT add new vertices. Pan back to 100 degrees and this is not an issue.

Resolved by looping through all layers and calling ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.WebMap.Document.GetIsBaseMap.

Map.xml contains an IsBaseMap property. Is there anything in the Viewer SDK that exposes what the current basemap is? <esri:ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer ID="Topographic" Url="http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Ocean_Basemap/MapServer" MinimumResolution="0">
<esriExtensibility:Document.IsBaseMap>true</esriExtensibility:Document.IsBaseMap>
<esriMapping:LayerExtensions.LayerName>Ocean</esriMapping:LayerExtensions.LayerName>
<esriMapping:LayerExtensions.LayerInfos />
<esriExtensibility:LayerProperties.IsPopupEnabled>true</esriExtensibility:LayerProperties.IsPopupEnabled>
<esriExtensibility:LayerProperties.IsVisibleInMapContents>true</esriExtensibility:LayerProperties.IsVisibleInMapContents>
</esri:ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer>
Thanks!

I've run into this problem before, and found that the browser caching is the culprit. When running fiddler2, I noticed that it wasn't even sending out a request for the updated Tools.xml file. I think Esri could fix this by having the Builder app and the built apps "dirty" these requests (e.g. add a timestamp to the url) so that the browser doesn't cache them. Clearing the cache is a pain ... especially when I have other things that I want to remain in the cache.

When I remote onto the server and edit the Behaviors.xml file, and then reload the app in the browser, I see from fiddler2 that it is not retrieving the Behaviors.xml and that the Behavior is loading config data from an earlier version of Behavior.xml. Is there some way I can force the app to re-load the Behavior.xml from the server instead of using the (apparently) locally cached version of this file? IE 10 with Viewer 3.0, running on IIS 7.5 Thanks! Kirk

In firefox and in IE 10, when I am not logged into AGOL and open this url: http://logic.maps.arcgis.com/explorer/?open=a7984b615cae4d138c6fe0cb4b9e5663 It slowly loads AGX ... twice! And when the app finally loads it does not open the webmap. I can then go and search and open the map successfully. Is this a bug?

Suppose I have an organization that has published a large number of maps. I would like to take a point (lat/long) and search for all maps whose extent intersects that point. Is this possible? Better yet, could the search include keywords and a point of interest? Thanks!

If I have a multimachine site, what is the best way to restart arcgis server? Is it harmful to go into the Windows Service manager and restart the ArcGIS Server service there? Would I need to do this on all machines in the Site?

Yes, I've also seen some strange things with logging. On a multimachine site, if I went into ArcGIS Server Manager and pushed the clear log button, I'd get an error saying it could not complete, or something like that. Haven't tried it lately. Will try again and post results. I suspect root cause is that the logger is busy logging a "clearing log" message at the same time it is trying to clear the log. Is ServerLogger a singleton? If so, did you try using Activator.CreateInstance on the background thread instead of "new"? (as prescribed by the threads-in-isolation pattern). From what you describe, it sounds like we should be including our own timestamp in the body of the message. In general I find SOE's quick and easy, but I can't help but wonder if there are cases where it might make more sense to write a WCF Rest service that uses arcobjects. These are normally MTAThreaded, but I've read about making it STAThreaded, like here.

Thanks Richard, that did the trick, after several tries. I wonder if things got messed up earilier when I restarted the ArcGIS Server windows service from the Windows Services manager (bypassing arcgis server). I haven't seen any documentation saying not to do that, but I can't help but think it could cause problems on a multimachine site, which is what I'm testing on.

What if you maintained a collection of backgroundworkers, and when a request comes in, hand it off to the first worker that's not busy? Logging from the worker (MTA) thread would be reported via ReportProgress. Th STAThread would write to the ServerLogger when the ProgressChanged event fires. Edit: On further thought though, doesn't arcgis server already do this when it decides which ArcSoc process to hand the request off to? In other words, it should know if a mapservice's SOE is busy, and hand the request to one that's not busy, and even wait until one is not busy.
