Ismael: Thank you for your response. I see that I have made a mistake in my original question, which crossed between Survey123 Connect and Report Template building in MS-Word. I am working in Survey123 Connect and attempting to use the “property('username')” in the calculation field to populate the Inspected By: slot of my survey form. The property('username') comes into my form line as expected from our enterprise login username. I would like to format this calculation to be “Joe Flannery” (Firstname-space-Lastname). I am trying to understand MS-Excel formulas for this task just to get my head wrapped about the concept and have gotten as far as using this to parse out the name: =PROPER(LEFT(E5,FIND("@",E5)-1)) At this point, I’m not even sure that I can use an Excel formula like the one above in the Survey123 XLSform. Thank you for your patience as I define my need. Joe

Our users log into ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and Esri’s mobile apps with enterprise credentials. Our AGOL username is automatically created from our email address and a tag at the end. Like this: Firstname.Lastname@xyz.com_xyz In Survey123, the AGOL username of the person who logs into the app and submits a completed form can be calculated using the "property('username')" formula. I would like to have the AGOL username populated in my Survey123 form as input to a question, line like - “Inspected By”. In Survey123 Connect, how do I parse the AGOL username calculated by "property('username')" into a readable name? Firstname.Lastname@xyz.com_xyz --> Firstname Lastname Thank you.

On July 25, 2018, we were notified that there is a bug in ArcGIS Earth 1.7. ArcGIS Earth version 1.7 has been removed from the homepage for this product. Bug: ArcGIS Earth 1.7 incorrectly truncates location values when displaying data from TXT and CSV files The "Workaround" states - "The ArcGIS Earth development team is currently working to resolve this issue in the upcoming release (version 1.8)." Can you tell us, will we have to wait until a 1.8 version is released or will there instead be a 1.7.1 version released sooner? Thank you

ArcMap has a "Change Layout" button in the Layout Toolbar. This allows users, who need to switch their layout format, to choose a custom template from a folder location. Scenario - I built my map with an 8.5x11 portrait layout. My client is now asking for the map layout to be 8.5x11 landscape. I click on the "Change Layout" button, choose from my catalog of custom layouts and I've quickly, on-the-fly, changed from one custom layout format to a different custom layout format. In an ArcGIS Pro layout, I am not afforded this "Change Layout" functionality. Yes, I know that we can have multiple layouts in a Pro project. I'm looking to be able to pick a custom layout from a folder of custom layouts. Not "Import" an additional layout from an mxd document. I would love to see this enhancement in a future build of ArcGIS Pro.

Kylie: Thank you for the informative blog posting. This is valuable information for our deployment of our projects for Collector. One question: At the beginning of your article, you state "By default, all features (editable and read-only) and their attachments are taken offline...". It was my understanding that all layers in a Collector map needed to be editable in order to show up in Collector and, more importantly, in order to be taken offline. Can you please clarify what you mean by "read-only" data layers and what settings are used for this type of data layer. Thank you for sharing with the community. Joe

Ajeng: I contacted Esri Tech Support, but they were not able to help solve my problem. So, I decided to start over with my Survey123 form. I did find out that I could create a new S123 project with my original form (my Excel spreadsheet XLS file), which saved me a lot of time. I deleted my earlier S123 work from ArcGIS Online (save any survey information first by downloading your existing data) and from my computer (save a copy of your original XLS form somewhere for safe keeping). I opened Survey123 Connect and clicked on the New Survey button. Choose the "File" option in this New Survey window. Give the survey a name and you have a new base to start from. Make what ever little adjustments are needed and publish your new survey. This worked for me and did not take too much time to do.

Chris Roberts Might you consider writing a Blog Post in GeoNet explaining the differences in the naming of survey forms and published surveys in Survey123? I find it very confusing. Here's what I think I know: Changing the "form_title" value in the "Settings" tab of the XLS form changes the name seen in Survey123 Connect "Form Preview" window. Changing the "Title" under the "Settings" button in Survey123 Connect changes the name seen in the "My Survey Designs" window of Survey123 Connect. Change the name of the folder in "C:\Users\<name>\ArcGIS\My Survey Designs" to change the name of the published survey in AGOL. Thank you, Joe

I am having the same problem. I am using: Windows 10 Pro, v1803 Microsoft Office 365, v1803 Survery123 Connect, v2.6.6 on Windows 10 Survey123 App, v2.6.9 on Windows 10 Google Chrome Browser I created a brand new, simple survey from Survey123 Connect’s “Advanced” template. I publish the survey, via Survey123 Connect, to my ArcGIS Online (AGOL) account with not warnings or errors. I download the survey to my Survey123 app on Windows 10 and “Collect” some data then submit the data. All of that works as expected. I am unable to access my survey from the Survey123 website in AGOL. The survey tile on the “My Surveys” page appears, but the tile does not show that any records are present and the ellipses in the bottom right-hand corner is unresponsive. If I click on the survey tile I get “The survey does not exist or is not accessible” message on the web page. None of the potential solutions discussed earlier in this thread apply to my simple survey. Has anyone else found a resolution to this problem? The survey tile shows nothing: Error Code 400 message when I click on the survey tile:

Roberta: I no longer see the "Extent" option available in the map's Item Details page. Here's what I do... With your map open, zoom to the extent and area of interest that you want your users to see when they open your map. At this point, create a spatial bookmark using the Bookmarks button on the toolbar. Call the bookmark something like Project Extent. Save your map. If I'm correct, the map extent that users initially see is the extent of your last Save. The Project Extent bookmark saves the extent that you may use over and over again for your map, so the bookmark is handy for you and your users for getting to that perfect view.

Keeping your ArcGIS skills fresh while actually using a different platform is difficult with the current ESRI offerings. (Licenses are way too expensive for hobbyists, casual users, or open-source geeks!) For $100 per year, you get all of this for personal use. A fantastic deal in my mind. Sven: Your question spurred me to look at the terms of use for the shapefile that I shared. The shapefile that I shared was part of the dataset delivered with the purchase of Esri's ArcGIS Desktop software. I was under the assumption that it could be used by anyone without restrictions. I was wrong. I cannot redistribute these data, legally. I'm sorry, but I need to take that data set down. If you have a licensed copy of ArcGIS Desktop, the Africa countries data can be found in the "Data and Maps" that are available for download with the software. Joe
