Hi Michael, Not sure you will be able to do this in AGOL with your own network datasets. However, you might take advantage of hosted by Esri routing services. More info on Network Analysis Services. Thanks Alexy. We need to use our network dataset because it includes the bridge height restrictions necessary for out routing purposes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm able to display the results from the script tool in ArcMap, but no such luck with getting results to display via a geoprocessing service in a flex app. Apparently it's a bug with the Flex api. Now I'm wondering how I might be able to leverage and use a network data set in ArcGIS Online. Any suggestions or ideas?

What are the steps to add Network Analyst functionality to a AGO map? I have a network data set published as a service and have added it to AGO. I've read that Network functions are now avail in AGO, but can not find any info on how to enable maps in AGO to be able to solve routing tasks.

Make the results of the Solve be a model parameter. Read more here on how to display the results of a model. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Displaying_model_data/002w0000003q000000/ Jay Sandhu I'm also interested in displaying the results form a network Solve in either a AGO map or a web app. Haven't been successful in either platform. I've put together a python script tool and published as a GP tool for use in a Flex app. It runs and generates a solve layer and directions text file on the ArcGIS Server. How might I leverage this into AGO?

Hello Michael, In the ArcGIS.com Map Viewer under details you can hover your mouse over an item, click on the arrow and then get the option to move the layer up or down. If you are publishing a hosted feature service from ArcMap, the layers come in in the order they are published in. If each layer is a service from your ArcGIS Server, you should have the option above to move the layers up and down. Can you creating a new map, adding content, then trying to move multiple layers up and down? I've tried creating a new Map by adding 3 published map layers (road network feature layer, label dynamic layer, and a point feature layer). The road network is at the top, labels second and points third. I'm not able to move the roads down(move up or move down are grayed out) and can not move either of the label or points above the roads. I would think you should be able to move any data layer in whatever order you wish. Confused.

Why are we not able to move items in the contents view to the order we would like? I have a service that is just labels that I would like on top, but see no way to get it to the top, only lets me move it down. The top layer (lines), will not allow me to move it down. Whats up with this?

Ah yes you'll need to manipulate the types a little. You are trying to do both string and math operations on the same data. def lat( dms ):
deg = float(str(dms)[0:2])
min = float(str(dms)[2:4])
sec = float(str(dms)[4:6])
dd = deg + (min / 60) + (sec / 3600)
return dd Awesome Matt! Thanks for the guidance.

Looks like just minor errors. 1. Need a colon after your function statement. 2. Reference the variable you pass containing the field value. def lat(dms): # need to add colon
deg = dms[0:2]
min = dms[2:4]
sec = dms[4:6]
returnVal = deg + (min / 60) + (sec / 3600)
return returnVal Thanks for the help Matt. But I'm still not able to get it to do the calc. Pre-Logic Script Code: def lat( dms ):
deg = dms[0:2]
min = dms[2:4]
sec = dms[4:6]
dd = deg + (min / 60) + (sec / 3600)
return dd testlat= lat( !latdmsInt! ) Where am I all messed up?

Afternoon all, I'm trying to use the field calculator (Python parser) to convert a field of degrees/minutes/seconds(DMS) to decimal degrees. The DMS field (latTemp) is formatted as such; 463704, 462331, etc. I'm trying to apply to the calculation to a decimal field (Latdecimal). Pre-Logic code: def lat(dms) deg = !latTemp![0:2] min = !latTemp![2:4] sec = !latTemp![4:6] dms = deg + (min / 60) + (sec / 3600) return dms Expression: lat( !latTemp!) I'm relatively new to python and am confused at this point. Thanks for suggestions.

I too have been struggling getting this Street View Widget to work in 3.0. Like Ryan mentioned it works in Preview mode of the App Builder, but nothing happens when you click on a street in a web app. It does show a message at the bottom of the App Builder preview, "Could not find Google_Street_View widget module". Yet it appears to be working in spit of this message. Any ideas? Yes I did overwrite the index.html with yours. Funny thing I noticed is that the widget works in the Preview mode for the Flex App Builder. I can't get it to work in IE or Firefox though.

Michael, Web based apps in general should always avoid using logical drives or UNC paths when code is run on client side. Flex in general does not have access to the clients local file system unless using filereference object from a mouse click. Depending on where your code actually gets executed a path that is not a url will like be interpreted as a path that exists on the client machine instead of the server. Thank you. Every bit of information adds to my understanding and I so appreciate this forum. Thanks Robert!

Michael, Absolutely... Just create a virtual directory in IIS on your web server that points to the UNC Path of the photos folder on the other server. In your data make sure the attribute either uses the full url of your virtual directory plus image or you will need to add the url prefix to your imagesource in the popup media tag. Robert, Being a relative newbie with FLEX, etc, I have a question as to why the photos have to either be on the IIS server or pointed to via a virtual IIS directory? Just curious....

Is is possible to display photos in a PopUp using a directory of photos that resides on a file share that is not a ArcGIS server? We have a photo library of some 6K photos and a attribute in the point data set pointing to the photo location and file. I am trying to get each photo to display in the popup. I have a feeling the photos need to reside on the ArcGIS server to facilitate this. But, we currently do not have the room to place a copy of them on the ArcGIS server. I'm looking for a way of displaying the photos without placing a copy of them on the server, if possible.

I would suggest you look into the Linear Referencing tools. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//003m00000002000000.htm Using these tools you will be able to assign measures to each of the rivers/streams. I would like to calculate_river_miles from the river mouth to certain stations on the river upstream. I can get river shape files online, but do not know how to calculate the distance to the station. My approach is: 1) get the river vector files, and connect segments that are disconnected 2) designate the river_mouth (point where river dumps in the ocean) manually 3) if the station is not on the river, create a buffer where the point will intersect with the river 4) create a query on attribute table where the distance from river_mouth to the station upstream will be calculated. 5) some of these stations upstream will be on tributaries too, not just on the mainstream section of river. Any suggestions to work thru the 5 steps would be greatly appreciated.
