If you just want to work with maps without editing those layers I would recommend using Explorer. Explorer is a read only application available on iOS, Android and Windows and lets you use any map independent of the edibility of the layers in that map. What platform are you using currently? -Brent

Jamie, Sorry you are having issues here. You are getting this error because the Runtime, which both Explorer and Collector are built with, is having trouble opening/parsing the webmap. This could happen for a number of different reasons, but usually involves something unexpected in the JSON of the webmap itself. Is there any way you can share the webmap with us? Also what platform (iOS, Android or Windows )are you using Explorer on? Thanks, -Brent

Justin, OK you are using Explorer without signing in. I think I know what you are running into. We are aware of an issue if you install Explorer without ever signing in and never continuing without signing in with connectivity. In this case the app is incorrectly blocking you. We will address this at the next release but to work around this all you have to do is tap "continue without signing in" just once when that app has connectivity. After doing this one time the correct schema is established so any time after that you won't need connectivity when you want to use the app offline anonymously (continue without signing in). Hope this helps, -Brent

Justin, Explorer should not need to "sign in" to be able to work. If you are offline but had previously downloaded content like a MMPK, Offline area or On-Demand Area, Explorer will be able to view/use that content. Are you seeing something different than this? If so can you Explain your workflow in more detail? We explicitly designed Explorer to work completely offline once you have content downloaded on the device. Thanks, -Brent

In the 19.1.0 beta which we released last week yes we support the side loading of a TPK and their use as a basemap behind offline areas you downloaded onto the device from your webmap. Is this the functionality you are referring to Marty?

Tyler, Explorer is doing nothing with your contacts. Unfortunately at the release of Android we shipped this version of Explorer on contacts permission was inadvertently requested along side other privileges we might need like access to the file system to download maps as well as access to the GPS to show your location on a map. Android has improved their permissions management infrastructure quite a bit since we last shipped Explorer and at the 19.1 release of Explorer we will not be requesting this as Explorer does absolutely nothing with contacts. We will be in Beta of Explore Android 19.1.0 later this fall with a final release early in 2020.
