The Modify Associations tool will not be available when working with an asset package. I would recommend using the Create Utility Network Associations and then manually review it in the Asset Package to remove any non-containment associations created. Then Run Apply Asset Package

Not attribute rules, you use UN Topology rules to define what can be associated with what. An attribute rule, which I did not mention, could be used to populate the association.

Depending on the size of the database, it would probably be best to create the associations in the asset package. There is a tool in the solutions toolbox Utility Network Package tools that will automatically create the assocations based on the rules. The tool is in the Data toolset and Create Utility Network Associations.

This capability is not yet available for the Utility Network. Also, this is something that has to be addressed across the entire software stack, not just the Utility Network. I'm not sure what releases all the changes will be completed in. I would recommending contacting support.

You would need to update all the subnetwork definitions and any stored traces and change the descriptions in multiple domains.

Batch Trace can also create aggregated geometry of the trace results, like a subnetwork does. But, these features would be stored outside of the UN.

Hi Jurgen. You could automate this using python, but it would not perform very well. The other option is to submit an enhancement request. Another option is to change how you are modeling these features. Consider putting the insulator in the Electric Domain network. I would also consider making the insulators non-spatial.

In the Utility Network, Structural Attachments are a special kind of connection and not viewed the same as a Junction to Junction connectivity or similar. Therefore, the connected trace will not traverse Structural Attachments. If you have the trace option Include Structures checked, then it will return the Attached Structures, but not things in the structure network that are connected to the first attached structure feature.

Devices and lines are both modeling equipment. Generally, per ISO/ANSI standard C.84 breaks equipment in to three overall groups High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage. High Voltage could be divided further into Extra High and Ultra High. Second is for cartographic reasons, mainly performance of scale suppression. Generally speaking, you would want High Voltage equipment to be visible at scales larger than you would want Medium or Low Voltage equipment visible. Third, attributes and domains assigned to attributes. Domains can only be assigned at the Subtype or Asset Group level. Also, attribute aliases and visibility can only be set at the Subtype or Asset Group level. Many people come from a CIM background. CIM is not a good cartographic model. It's a good electrical model, but a really bad cartographic model.

First, that is a very old copy of the model. You should start with the latest model on the Solutions.arcgis.com site. Second, you modified the domain for phases to represent phase orientation. That will not work with phase correctly with phase tracing! Third, the line {B8C7547F-7D90-46B9-BA1D-DAA2872ACC60} is not snapped to the Attachment point

The Device status of open or closed on a subnetwork controller feature has no impact for what is downstream of it, as the subnetwork starts at the downstream terminal. Open or Closed only impact the path through the device.

When we changed the Lifecyle status, I would not advise adding any values to it. I would add needed values to the Construction Status domain. This will keep the lifecycle status field in the network index. Adding values to it will probably end up moving it out of line.
