I just noticed no one replied to this thread. Did you ever find the materials you were looking for? If not, are there any specific types of information you are looking for?

Many customers do not use the Z coordinate and just set it to 0. The only problem is where you have equipment stacked on top of each other. That can be dealt with by spreading the equipment out in the X & Y Planes.

The Utility Network is 3D capable which means the coordinates in all three planes must match in order for two or more objects to connect. If the if the X and Y coordinates are the same, but the Z is not, then they are not the same point and will not connect.

Without having the actual data, I would guess that this may be a snapping issue. If the data was created using some automated migration tool, it may be that the line end point is not within the tolerance. By editing it and snapping the line, you then get correct connectivity, which is what I think you experienced.

In our electric model that we will publish at the end of this month, I have added Crossarms as content of Connection Points. The connection point then serves too functions, First the connection point or attachment point has attributes about the geometric mean distance of conductor separation. Second the connection point or attachment point will contain non-spatial crossarms or insulators.

If you plan to use propagation for phase, then the three taps works correctly, as the Tap has the network attribute Subnetwork Tap assigned to it, which means you would assign the phase for each Tap feature. So the image on the right is correct. The image on the left works as well, however, you would need to assign the phase at the each fuse and not the tap. However, if the Fuse has a terminal configuration, then this would not necessarily work correctly as the fuses would still get a ABC propagated to them, even if you set the phase on the fuses.

You would need to add a Directional Terminal configuration to the HRC Fuse. Or if you are using our latesest released Electric Model there is a Ring Terminal LV that can be a controller as well as several Low Voltage Fuses. You should use the D_Rename capability of Apply Asset Package and rename one of these to the HRC Fuse and then you have your LV Fuse that is a subnetwork controller.

Once the network topology has been enabled, you cannot change the Subtype Descriptions, Asset Type Descriptions (in the coded domain) or Terminal Names and a few other Utility Network properties. Once the Network Topology has been enabled, it is only additive.

if lines are in the same domain, I would suggest setting the Z of each vertex so that each stacked line has a different Z.

When running Apply Asset Package where the UN properties are being applied and data is being loaded in a single execution, Attribute Rules do not fire, we do this for performance reasons. I would suggest first using Apply Asset Package and not checking the Load Data option so that your UN properties are applied to the target UN and then re-running Apply Asset Package with the Load Data option checked against the same UN. However, a more scalable approach is to manipulate the data before loading in to the UN. Relying on the Attribute rules will be very slow for loading that volume of data.

An example of a shared Structure Line feature could be Duct Bank, Trench or Span (section between two poles). For Structure Edge Object, a Duct Bank could contain say 16 Ducts, which are non-spastial edges. Each Duct could contain an Electric Cable or a Communications Cable. (Please don't mix Gas and Electric in the same duct bank). For Structure Junction Object, a customer may represent a Pole purley as a location of a Aerial Support Structure and then this feature could have an association to a Structure Junction Object that are the actual poles, crossarms, braces, pole hardware, that make up the Aerial Support Structure.

The Utility Network is designed around versioning and has been designed to be additive only, which means you cannot delete a number of items, like terminal configurations, since the terminal configuration could be used in an older state of the database. That is why you cannot delete it. You could export your Utility Network to an Asset Package, drop the database and then re-Apply the Asset Package after you remove the terminal configuration from the asset package.
