The map is aware of the scale levels of the service. I'm assuming you want the map to *snap* to the scale levels specified by the map service. Unfortunately, the only way to force that is if you implement it in your application by listening to "MapDidEndZooming" notifications and zooming the map to the closest scale level programmatically. We'd be interested in knowing why you want this behavior.

1) Filtering fields - You're right, there is no way currently to limit the fields being returned by the service on an operation by operation basis. You can, however, limit the fields by adjusting their visibility in the source map document (.mxd or .msd). The service will honour your settings and will not return invisible fields. Keep in mind, this will affect other operations too, such as Query, Find, etc Another option is for you to manually filter the fields in your application. 2) Renaming fields - You can specify user-friendly aliases for the fields in the source map document. The service will then return these aliases instead of the actual field names. The other option is that you manually substitute field names with user-friendly names in your application.

Is it possible that your Geocode service is on an ArcGIS Server older than 9.3.1? The 102100 spatial reference was introduced at 9.3.1. Older servers dont understand it.

Hmm, not sure why you're still having problems. Can you print the point to the console and see if the x,y, and spatial ref values look okay. Use NSLog(@"Point: %@", point);

This is possible, but you will have to make an additional HTTP request to the map service and parse the result JSON to get these details. _ Divesh

Harikant, The self.mapView.gps.enabled property does not indicate whether location services are enabled/disabled for the application, or for that matter, the device. The property only indicates whether the map is using the location services. To find out whether location services are available for your app to use, you will need use the CoreLocation framework in iOS. _ Divesh (PS : Also take a look at Displaying location on the map)

You cannot just assign a different spatial reference to existing coordinate values. You need to actually project the coordinate values. The Geocode Service can project the values for you. All you need to do is use locationsForAddress:returnFields: outSpatialReference: and specify the spatial reference in which you want the results.

Version 2.3 of the JSON framework (http://code.google.com/p/json-framework/) is included with the ArcGIS library. Before ArcGIS API for iOS v1.0, the JSON headers were not made public by the ArcGIS library. But now they are. So all you need to do is remove the additional JSON library from your project. As long as you are referencing the ArcGIS library, you will have access to the JSON classes.

Unfortunately, no. You can use the GeometryService task to buffer a point by 400 m (or whatever distance you want). This will yield a polygon that looks like a circle. If you don't want to use the GeometryService, you can use a little trigonometry to find the points along the circle's circumference. Let r be the radius of the circle. Let (a,b) be the center of the circle. Then to find points (x,y) along the circle : x = a + r*cos(theta) y = a + r*sin(theta) Vary theta from 0 - 360. Use small increments to get a more detailed circle. Create a polygon with a single ring that contains all these (x,y) pairs. You have a circle.

The ArcGIS application for iOS does use a custom URL to open maps from arcgis.com. It is arcgis://www.arcgis.com/sharing/content/items/<itemid>/data When viewing a map in the application, you can share it with others via email. Click on the "i" button in lower right corner, Click Details, and use the share button on the top right corner

Andrew, The map already projects the coordinates returned by the device (always WGS84) into the spatial reference of the map (in your case, British Grid). Are you saying that results are inaccurate (~150m) and that a different/custom datum transformation would yield better results? Would it be possible for you to share the map you're using so that we can run a few tests? Thanks.

Yes, you need to set the visibleLayers property on AGSDynamicMapServiceLayer. You'll see it in the MapViewDemo sample self.dynamicLayer.visibleLayers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[NSNumber numberWithInt:2], nil];
