As far as the data check is concerned - there are a few issues that might be interfering with the sync. The conversion of the runtime database to a FGDB should work though.  I've noticed it only works for me if I move the runtime geodatabase files to a folder on the C: drive, and save the FGDB to the same location.  It seems whoever wrote the tool didn't do much testing on network drives or with longer file paths. ... FYI - the illegal start of token errors are what we see when our users are trying to check in a database that is too large (somewhere in the neighborhood of ~800mb - 1gb).  We see this on our projects with lots of image attachments. ... View more

I haven't tested the GLO specifically, but I can confirm that a wifi-only iPad will hook up to and use a bluetooth GPS while offline. That said - there appears to be a bug in iOS 8.3 with the use of some external bluetooth GPS units.  You might keep this in mind and stick with iOS 8.2 to be safe. ... View more

Your check-in database is too large - we've experienced this issue countless times with Collector when collecting large numbers of photos. The version of iOS is irrelevant in this case.  Here's what we do when we run into this situation: Plug iPad into computer with iTunes Pull off the offline geodatabase (it will be in a folder in the File Sharing area) Convert the .geodatabase to an Esri File Geodatabase with ArcMap 10.3 Manually add in your new attachments and features to your parent database with ArcMap Although Esri claims there is no limit on the size of a geodatabase sync we've observed failures with anything over 700mb - 1gb in size. ... From what I've seen TerraGo doesn't offer support for external GPS units that is any better or worse than Esri's.  All the GPS units listed as supported on TerraGo's site will work with ANY iOS app because the GPS unit itself conforms to the MFI protocol for Bluetooth GPS. What TerraGo doesn't mention is if they offer any sort of deeper integration with high-accuracy units (like being able to access PDOP, RMS Error, Sat info).  Collector doesn't support this at the moment either, but there are SDKs available from the manufacturers to add this to runtime apps, so I'm sure both TerraGo and Esri will be adding support at some point. ... Nothing wrong with Popups per se... Matt Cooper​ might be able to provide some additional insight, but primarily I'm not sure the popups would provide us with the flexibility we need for most of our more data intensive apps... which are quickly becoming all our apps. For instance - we have a marine mammal monitoring app that field crews use for focal follow surveys (basically a boat follow a whale and records all their activity).  In this app the map is an important component, but the primary data entry interface is the data form.  For instance, our "sighting" UITable View is doing things like: Listing attributes (27+ attributes) in sections with headers for better organization Listing related focal follow points (anywhere from 1-100 points) inline in a table view section Calculating offsets.  In this app a user collects the vessel position (lat/long) and enters a bearing and distance to the animal.  Once those values are entered into the form the app auto-calculates the location for the sighting and modifies the feature geometry.  The vessel location is retained in an attribute field. Links to sub-forms.  Certain table rows change functionality depending on the corresponding attribute value.  For instance if the field crew check "Yes" for photos, the photo table row will be tap-able, and tapping it will push in a subform to collect information about the photos (camera, photographer, start-end frame).  These are all attributes in the primary feature table, but are not displayed in the main data form. For our field users this automation and optimization is very important.  In some cases data collection is happening very rapidly and every second lost to a view transition annoys and delays them. Being able to quickly scan a list view of all collected records is also very important.  Our field teams often use down-time to roll back over collected data to QC and add additional detail to field notes.  Being able to quickly scroll a list view sorted by date makes this much easier than tapping a map, trying to find the record you want in a bunch of overlapping points, and repeat...  This is actually one of our biggest pain points with Collector, no list view for navigating large data sets. ... That said - we are not using AGSPopupsContainterViewController, we aren't using popups at all.  Our apps use UITableViews to present forms to the user for data collection.  Attachments are shown in a collection view, and a  UIImagePickerController is triggered to collect new pictures. ... You can add them to a file geodatabase and then export them to a runtime geodatabase in ArcGIS using the "Create Runtime Content" tool.  This will create a read-only database and you can load the feature layers up in the mapView of your app. ... View more
