About to migrate a sandbox instance of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1. It's never been backed up before to my knowledge. Running webgisdr gives the following output: ==================================================

We're planning on moving from a pilot instance of ArcGIS Enterprise to production. This move will mean a new home for VMs ('Prod' azure subscription), and switching to the corporate URL from a temp self-created url. Our pilot has dozens of users and we don't want to loose content. Moving the new VMs shouldn't be bad. I expect to follow the backup/restore migration method using webgisdr. I've been reviewing this post (https://community.esri.com/message/789278-re-changing-arcgis-portal-dns-alias-post-installation- ) and it doesn't sound bad, but I'm interested in finding an official workflow. An important factor, our pilot has twinned VMs for portal and server, and the server is federated as the hosting server using the web adapter. So old.domain.com/server. I'm playing around in a sandbox trying out some approaches I think this will be a hiccup. Un/Re-federating has been cantankerous for us in the past. Any advice or references are welcome. Thanks!

Have a look at ESRI PowerShell DSC. I don't know of a way to export/import an existing site, but it will allow you to make your future instances repeatable. GitHub - Esri/arcgis-powershell-dsc: This repository contains scripts, code and samples for automating the install and c…

Update: it appears that there are duplicate items for each of the hosted feature services. The original owned by the correct owner, and a new item with the same name owned by the admin user. I tried deleting one of these second items and the original is now corrupt, so I assume they're sharing a back end. What are my options here? I assume that re-federating pulled all the services in again but didn't match the owner (as that's maintained by the portal), so everything went haywire.

If you want to publish via portal then you'll need to have a hosting server. If you want access to the layer without a token then you should share it to everyone.

I'm looking at a different federation problem (my problem), and am considering this unfederate/refederate approach. Can you give more detail on "changed the federated server from hosting to standalone in the Portal Admin Directory"? I see options to change my server role from "hosting" to "Federated" or "Federated with Restricted...", under Federation > Servers > serverid > Update action, but I may be looking in the wrong place. EDIT: I think I see what you're talking about on the server admin (not portal), under security > config > changeServerRole. Can you confirm this was your order 1. Update server role to standalone using server admin: security > config > changeServerRole 2. Unfederate using Portal admin 3. Refederate with desired new URL

A recent bug fix from my team resulted in our hosting server being refederated using the WA url instead of the internal URL that it was previously using. Now all our hosted features layers give us permission problems. First, an admin user can still load these hosted layers. Other uses receive the following error, even if the layer is shared to everyone: error: {code: 403, subcode: 2,…} code: 403 details: [] message: "User does not have permissions to access 'hosted/some_layer.mapserver'." subcode: 2 I'm assuming the token still contains the other URL so that the token is invalid on the layer regardless of the layers share status. Looking for ways to move forward with the current setup, but considering undoing the federation and returning to the start state. Just not sure if it'll fix anything. ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1

Hi Morten Olesen, a year later has anything changed? Or have you dropped this all together. We have the same needs, starting with the sample python, etc. Example: Copy content—Portal for ArcGIS (10.6) | ArcGIS Enterprise First glance shows that our layers are copying, but web maps are pointing to source portal and not the destination portal.

By the time the ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 French language pack was available, 10.7.1 Enterprise was already out. I installed the latest enterprise and attempted to install the 10.7 language pack. I received this error I'm hoping there's a way I can just force the 10.7 language pack to install. I figure I can install 10.7 and the language pack, then upgrade portal. I'd rather not. Are there other approaches?

I'm setting up some backups of a spatiotemporal big data store (v10.6.1) and would like to push them into an azure blob. I'm reading this doc: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/linux/data-store-utility-reference.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_35FC910709804CC0AA43C44C5B15F810 I'm confused as to what the --location parameters should be. The example lists --location type=azure; location=mybackups; name=secondrelloc; username=myazureaccountlogin; password=zpw4myazureaccount So if I have a storage account: https://samplesa.file.core.windows.net/ with a container somecontainer, how does that map to what's being asked? For the username and password, what's expected? I have an account I created all the VMs with (not using that), and I could grant access to some AzureAD account. I more expected to pass in a key or SAS. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks again, I thought as a workaround I could connecting using HDFS instead of as a data lake, but I see in the help that secured stores aren't supported. That might be a quicker path for Gen2 support than writing a specific connector.

Ok, no problem. So not supported in 10.7 either? I'm really on a fact finding mission so I can try a gen1 store as well. Thanks for all the help.
