Mark, We are working on the hosted tiled layer support and hope to make this available in our next major update (10.3). In the interim, you could explore using ArcMap to cook a tile package directly from your data source and having users side-load the base maps to their devices. Collector will support more than one base map on the device at a time. This is actually a good workflow for working with base map layers - it is much more efficient than having a tile package cooked for each field worker - but it does involve you defining and pre-creating the packages. Here is a blog article that can help you understand what is involved in this process: Using your own Basemap layers with Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Blog Jeff

Hey Ryan, What type of a Forestry template are you looking for? I think we could build quite a few based upon what you do in the field and for needs across your business units. Some ideas: - Forest stand/cut block mapping - Invasive Species surveys - ? Do you have any paper forms, data models you can share? Others - please feel free to weigh in on this discussion too! There are lots of templates we can build for you ... Jeff

The Apps team is working to add related table support inside of the Collector, Operations Dashboard and Explorer apps. Where appropriate we will include editing support as well (which is not yet available). Look for these capabilities to be added to the rest of the platform through the course of our 10.3 release. Also we will blog and announce when these capabilities are added.

All, This is great feedback. We are looking to add this capability into a future release but we need your help in detailing the need. Some thoughts on level of support for tables: 1. Add as an external data source where I can browse for an item or directly to the REST endpoint of a non-spatial table. Of course in say a list widget you would not see a legend swatch for each row as there is nothing we can draw. 2. Similar to 1 we could add the ability for you to navigate through the collection of feature services within a web map to each of the tables and set a table as a data source. The challenge comes with 1:M relationships. If you can provide us with details on your need, that would be extremely helpful. You can either post directly to this forum thread or email dashboard4arcgis@esri.com. Thanks! Jeff

Vish, As Russ mentioned above, we are busy at work adding disconnected editing support into Collector now. The next update (10.2.2) will include support for taking map areas offlline and we are on-track to have this release available in early March. Between now and then we will be blogging on what is coming in the release. To answer your questions: 1. Similarity to ArcGIS for Windows Mobile: The release in March will not fully match what is there in AGWM. What we will release is an ??on-demand? workflow in March where the Collector user will define the map area that they want to take offline. The ??pre-planned? workflow will come in a later release. This workflow enables a field manager to pre-cache map areas for field workers using the web site ?? basically the analogous functionality of creating/packaging a project and hosting it inside of your portal. 2. Validation and the sync process The sync process is bi-directional and improving upon what we have done with AGWM there is proper change detection so you are only pulling changes from the server when you sync. The workflow you mentioned in your post may require that the user call sync twice though. The sync process will first import all edits (do an upload) and then request a lock to do the download (no edits can happen when it generates the features to send back to the mobile client). So if you are implementing your validation via a class extension where the edit happens immediately after the insert it is possible that you could get back the invalid status in the same sync process however it is not guaranteed. The field user may need to tap the sync button again. Please look for the blog articles to start coming out next week at: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/ (you can filter by the mobile category) Jeff

Mike, The Operations Dashboard app is designed specifically for members of an ArcGIS Organization so unfortunately this is not a possibility today. You can share your map as a web app so that it can be viewed by the public and I think that would be the best option for you as it will provide a cross platform solution. We are improving the configurable web app capabilities inside of ArcGIS Online and I would be interested in hearing what specific widgets you are using in your Operation View. Would you mind posting a screenshot and/or providing more details on your needs? Thanks Jeff

Mobile applications developed using our Web APIS and our native Runtime SDKs include support for executing Geoprocessing tasks. If you have developed your own application using either of our APIs then yes you can add support for your service. If you are using our ArcGIS app (either the browser or the native apps available through the app stores) or Collector app then unfortunately no - there is no way today to configure the application to use a geoprocessing service. Hope this helps. Jeff

Chris, From a licensing perspective, there is no issue with you doing this. You can find the proper attribution for your iOS app here on the resource center: http://resources.arcgis.com/content/attribution You should add to your attribution the REST URL for each of the services that you use. Each service contains attribution for the content it displays. Thanks, Jeff

Tony/All, Rest assured that we have a team very much dedicated to the development of ArcGIS Mobile. There are quite a few new features coming in the 10.1 release and we will showcase them at the Users Conference this year. Our new feature development introduced dependencies on the 10.1 desktop architecture for release and this is the main reason why you have not seen any new feature development since 10.0. We do have another bug fix release (build 2500) that will be in the customer care portal soon (target for upload is the end of this week). Some of the new features include: 1. Geometry Editing - our initial focus with geometry editing is centered around how you can leverage the GPS to edit the geometry of a feature. The workflows we are targeting here include partial feature collection (collect part of a line -> stop -> collect additional features -> return to collecting the line), replacing portions of features, etc. 2. Support for Attachments - this is quite easy for a smartphone to do today as everything you do happens in a connected way. With attachment support in Windows Mobile you will be able to download features and have the option to download attachments, you will be able to collect attachments of various types and then upload. 3. Simplified Data Collection - We had quite a few complaints that our collection workflow was too "geeky". We have simplified the process for 10.1. 4. GPS Information - we are providing a way to always show the GPS information on the map. We also have Compass-driven navigation. You can navigate to a feature, to a location on the map, etc. 5. Desktop workflows - creating a project with the Mobile Project Center has been vastly improved. Inside of the package itself you will be able to include both a mobile cache of data content as well as offline basemaps so that it is literally a matter of deploying a single file and it will unpack all of your content. 6. Map Analyzers - we will provide the ability to use the map analyzer capability in ArcMap to diagnose errors and warnings for mobile services before publishing. There is much more on its way for this platform as we move forward. Above are the features we will be showcasing at the Users Conference and we will talk through additional improvements plus our roadmap. Please feel free to email me directly with any feedback: jshaner@esri.com Thanks, Jeff

This is great feedback. Thank you. We will be bringing both editing capabilities and offline capabilities to the iOS and Android platforms (both in API and application). Can you list for us the top 10 features of ArcPad that you need in this platform? Also your thoughts on what not to bring from ArcPad? If you prefer, you can email me direct at jshaner@esri.com Thanks

Yes. You can find the list of supported platforms here: http://resourcesbeta.esri.com/content/system-requirements-0 We are working to certify WinMo 6.5 but can not check it off the list quite yet. We had a device imaged with beta and the ArcGIS Mobile Application worked just fine. We are in the process of procuring an AT&T Tilt 2 with the final version. Once we have fully tested with it we will add 6.5 Professional to the list (both 9.4 and 9.3.1). We have yet to find a smartphone version to test with... Note that from the Mobile RC you see that we are in development of an iPhone application and SDK as well. Expected beta for the SDK in December. Jeff

Hopefully yes. We are working on new setups for ArcGIS Server .NET and inside of the new setup we will include the "Project Server". I cannot confirm for sure that the new setup will be in beta 2 but we are working towards making that happen. For beta 1 you will need to run the separate project server setup. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. Thanks, Jeff

The setup itself has an install path and the Tablet feature is installed directly into the bin folder. We are working on a standalone msi for the tablet application as well but that will not be delivered until beta 2. Hope this answers your question Ted. If not, let me know. Jeff
