First, let me apologize for alarming anyone. The jogl jars were not really being used for anything significant, and anyway we have relegated all of the opengl/directX rendering to the core native runtime. By removing the jars, we slim down the size of your app deployments a bit. So we are not removing OpenGL support, nor will you have to do anything special for your app deployments to handle OpenGL, as long as OpenGL is already on the target machine. Again, I am sorry for not providing a better context to my initial statement on this! Thanks!

Hi Kyle, I know it can be frustrating to have to wade through tons and tons of documentation, just to get started. Sorry for your frustration! It appears that there is a mixing of fragmented resources. The 2nd and 3rd links are referring to the ArcObjects SDK, a completely different product from what this forum is for: the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java SE. Can I ask, which SDK are you trying to use? That would help us sort this out for you.

Thank you, Gene. One thing to note: we have removed jogl from the product at 10.2.

Have you read this blog about setting up the emulator? http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2012/05/02/arcgis-runtime-sdk-for-android-v1-1-supports-android-emulator/ This really helped me when I was struggling with that same issue.

Hi Bill. I understand what you are trying to do. The object model extensibility has not really been tested to this level since this scenario is not supported, unfortunately. What kind of service exactly are you trying to add to the map?

Yes, you can capture this output in a log file. This text comes from the Local Server. To set this up, browse to the tools directory and run the Local Server Utility 10.1.1 script. Check the box that says "Enable Logging". Logs will be written by default to your $TEMP directory.

Hi Jeff: The WPF and Java versions of the ArcGIS Runtime SDK can be downloaded by logging into the Customer Care Portal with your EDN subscription credentials. We do not offer a free trial version of the product at this time, unfortunately. You can, however, download and run the WPF SDK's Sample Viewer Application for Windows, which is loaded with really good samples and code: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ace12032e3db4314b7ba7ee5b341c80c The Java version should be ready for download soon. If you are interested in evaluating and giving feedback on our ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt/C++, you can log into the beta community site and download the 10.2 beta. All you need is an Esri global ID: http://beta.esri.com/community/index.cfm?event=Community.dspLogin&msg=&ref=/project/home%2Ehtml%3Fcap%3DA3FD628514DD43FCACD89BA929AE66A8 Regarding your application deployment scenario, as long as your application is a client for accessing ArcGIS Services only, and is not accessing data or functionality local to the device, you can deploy your application with a BASIC-level license. This allows you to distribute the application as many times as you want, free from having to pay for those deployments. Your questions are good ones, and I hope you find this info helpful.

Yes, this is a good one. NOT an easy or elegant task. What you MIGHT be able to try is this. (hold your nose!) Have an "empty" map package on hand, one that is a duplicate of the original, with all the layers removed. Collect the layer infos from the original ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer Copy them in a different order into a new collection of layer infos Create a new ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer using the empty map package you have on-hand Add the new layer infos collection (re-ordered) to the layer list of the new ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer Add the new layer to the map I wouldn't want to maintain something like this, but it may work anyway. This is a good catch. It would be nice to have an easy way of reordering layers dynamically for local layers. Of course, using online services, it is much easier. You can just create a new layer list and apply it again to the map in the order that you want. I hope something helpful comes out of this response for you.

Mark nailed it. Since you asked about Java as well, it may be worth mentioning that there is also the ArcGIS Java Web Services (AgsJWS) API for enterprise Java development: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/soap/10.1/index.html#/java/01vp00000044000000/

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java 10.1.1 is the current and latest release of the software. The 3 Runtime betas that are there on http://betacommunity.esri.com today are for Qt, OS X and Windows Store. The reason these have betas is because these are "new" products. There are no current plans to provide 10.2 Betas for the existing SDKs. To get the current software, just log on to http://customers.esri.com with your EDN subscription credentials and you should see the download links from there. I hope this helps?

Hi Jeremie: The Scalebar overlay always places the scalebar in the lower left. It cannot be repositioned. The Navigator overlay defaults to the same location, but you can call setLocation(Point pt) to postion it to the top left.
