Yes, I just upgraded to ArcGIS 10 and installed the service pack and my image service will not start now with our .ecw aerial. You can't even pick it when you create a new service as I could in 9.3. Colleen, The particular ECW bug in this thread is unrelated to image services not starting. Have you contacted technical support regarding the problem your facing? Do you have licensing from ERDAS to serve ECW's? The placement of the dll's location is changed in 10 to be able to serve this proprietary format. Server and Desktop no longer have shared install directories. I would recommend contacting Support. You may also want to review this knowledge base article. FAQ: What is required to serve ECW images in ArcGIS Image Server?

Graeme, The ECW issue is still unresolved in our tracking system. It is being targeted for the next service pack. I personally only reproduced it the day I installed 10. After I shut ArcMap down and reopened, all my ECW's were back. We do realize this is not the case for many people though. Hence we are still seeking a solution for all the ECW users out there. Regards, Eric

Hugo, The Raster Catalog To Raster Dataset tool has a parameter called, "Expression", which allows you to select specific records in the catalog to mosaic together. Since you have RPF catalogs I assume you have the Military Analyst extension installed. There is a mosaic command on the MA toolbar to mosaic subsets of the MA catalog. If you are using ArcGIS 10, the Mosaic Dataset might be your best option. The RPF tiles will be treated as a mosaic, and unlike a raster catalog, the mosaic dataset can be input into geoprocessing tools. In this case it seems all you would need to do is run the Clip tool on the input mosaic dataset. Regards, Eric

Tom, What Robert is asking is if you selected your input from the input dropdown (when the raster is in the map) or if you browsed to the raster on disk. This may make some difference is older versions. However, I just tested 10.0 sp1 and in both scenarios I am returned a 4 band result. I ran the Clip tool located in Data Management Tools > Raster > Raster Processing and the result was also 4 bands. The Clip tool can clip to feature geometry just like Extract by Mask. Give that tool a try. What version are you using? Regards, Eric

Eric, It appears that the Lookup tool treats 0 in the value field as NODATA, even when you're calling another attribute. This is problematic when 0 is a valid entry. Any suggestions? Thank you! Melissa, I can't reproduce that issue. Can you please log an incident with Esri Support so we can get the data and try to replicate? Eric

I have the same problem. I want to make a SetNull calculation using the "Count" of a raster and not Value. There must be an easier way of doing that, then using the Lookup function. No Suggestions??? SetNull has a parameter for the Where Clause. You can use the Count field there.

Kenny, Your data is most likely in a geographic coordinate system with units of DD. ArcScene interprets the z unit the same as the x,y unit. You should project the data to a projected coordinate system that uses feet or meters. The spatial reference you choose should have units for x,y that are the same as your z unit. In other words, if the elevation data is in meters you should choose a projection that also uses meters. Its best to have x,y, and z be the same unit so you don't have to set any unit conversion factors. If you want to quickly examine what the data will look like before projecting it, you can set the base heights in ArcScene like normal, then go to the View > Scene Properties page and set a vertical exaggeration (calculate from extent). Set the number to something very small, like 0.0003. Regards, Eric

Hi there, Dot notation is not currently possible in the new map algebra framework. However, you can make a call to the Lookup tool within the map algebra expression. This tool is designed to make a raster from an attribute of the input raster. Once the you have the Lookup result you can multiply it by your mask. Regards, Eric

Hi Shawn, When you clip the rasters to your UD raster, make sure a couple other parameters are set. You can find these in the environment settings. 1. Cellsize - set this equal to your UD raster. 2. Extent - set this equal to your UD raster. 3. Snap Raster - set this equal to your UD raster. This is a very important setting as it will guarantee cell alignment by snapping the output to the UD raster. Regards, Eric

Greetings, This is a bug with ArcGIS 10. Both generation 2 and 3 SID's are impacted. However, it is not all datasets; only some of them. The issue can be tracked on using bug ID NIM057871. We understand the severity of the issue and are working on solutions. Regards, Eric

Hi Ulises, I have a couple questions. 1. What version are you using? 2. What tool are you using? There are many ways to do this... - Clip tool - Extract by Mask tool from Spatial Analyst - Export Data from TOC with selected graphic (the mask) 3. Are you snapping back to original DEM? Eric

Dawn, In this unit conversion scenario your result is always going to be floating point values, unless all pixels evenly divide by 100 (since you technically could divide by 100 - not a float value). When you do this operation you're actually decreasing the range of values in the raster. Storing 16 bits may not be necessary. What is the new range of values after multiplying by .01 and doing INT? What format are you working with? ESRI GRIDs are always 32 bit anyway... Eric

Matt, One way to get the answer is to do the subtraction like you normall would. Then use a Con statement to say anything below your threshold should be equal to the threshold; if it's above the threshold, keep the value as-is. In your example the threshold is 0. Would this work for you? Eric

If the ultimate goal is to have a new raster catalog of the subset, you might want to check out the tool, Copy Raster Catalog Items. It honors selections on the input raster catalog. The Data > Export Footprints option is only available in ArcGIS 10. Regards, Eric

Do you want a raster that represents the average or do you want the average value to be an attribute of the polygon? Most of the time its the latter. I would point you to the Zonal Statistics as Table tool in Spatial Analyst. You should check out this thread, where I uploaded a snapshot of the model I used to do this. Regards, Eric
