I have created a support ticket for this issue in the past, which where we settled on the enterprise geodatabase layers being a contributing problem. Our organization also has a longstanding issue with our web adaptor - as the system was set up with Azure Cloudbuilder for Enterprise 10.5.1, and we have been using a series of URL rewrites as a proxy ever since. Installing Esri web adaptors can cause a cascade of issues. Unfortunately that could be another contributing issue regarding user access to these services.

Hi Calvin, I believe the features I am attempting to pull down to create local copies of are Offline Hosted Features services. When looking at their path in REST Service Directory they are under a Hosted folder, whereas the enterprise geodatabase layers are in a different folder. Apologies if this is a silly question, but do you the best way to differentiate between what is referenced from an enterprise geodatabase vs. what is not, either via Portal Administrator or Server Manager? I'm working with several layers that were created before I came on into this position.

Hi all, Have had an issue lately with creating local copies of our organization's services to edit in ArcMap. We are using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 and we have a field team using Collector and Survey123. The layers in question are optimized for Offline use, with Sync and Editing enabled. Essentially every time I create a local copy for editing in ArcMap of a Feature Service, the geographic data copies correctly, but the photo attachments are missing To sum up my workflow and issues I have: Add feature service from portal into ArcMap .mxd I am able to use the Identify tool to view photo attachments to the data Right click and create local copy of data to edit Creates local copy for a while, and then a Feature Class is copied to the FeatureServiceLocalEdits folder in a geodatabase alongside an (empty) attachment table and relationship class. This presents a huge issue because if I were to republish and overwrite the original service with important edits that were made, critical attachments would be missing, and the originals removed. Has anyone has any similar issues or has a solution/workaround? Is there something wrong with the configuration of my service? I have read elsewhere that attachments do not always copy correctly when editing and sync is enabled. I could disable those features but it would cause a disruption to our active field crew and the replicas of the service they may be using. Many thanks

Some of the layers we were using were Enterprise Geodatabase files and not Hosted Feature Services. EGDB layers can be configured for offline edit and sync (these were) but they seemed to be source for many of the issues with downloading. I noticed a slight improvement when I removed those EGDB layers from the Collector maps. At this point the issue could be anything from our server configuration to issues with replicas and the synctools service to problems of multiple users accessing the server at the same time to download and the server just being overwhelmed. Still haven't totally solved the issue yet.

Yes, I was able to generate a HAR file for the Network logs. From the Network logs alone it looks like there's 4 calls that are getting 502 Responses from our server: 3 are addToDefinition calls 1 is updateDefinition Any recommendations for what to look for in the HAR file for those errors?

Having a very similar problem, running ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 When trying to create a project the bar freezes at 22% for a good 30 seconds to a minute and then I'm hit with this error, "rejected due to a server error" I have increased several services to run with a minimum of 1 instance and unfortunately it didn't work, but it did create a Folder, Group and a series of Hosted Feature Layers in my Content. However the Project itself doesn't exist. Digging through the Logs in ArcGIS Server Manager - can't quite tell what is tripping up the Workforce Project creation. Nothing at the Severe or Warning level, at Info it mentions many requests to Service: System/PublishingToolsEx/GPServer Any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome! This could be a really handy tool for our organization.

Hi all, My organization has recently been running into a consistent problem downloading Offline Map Areas in the new Collector. This may be similar to other issues users are experiencing but I have not seen anyone post this error message yet. We are running an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1, and this issue is in Collector App version 20.2.1 Build 2956. These errors so far have all been occuring on phones and tablets running Android operating systems, although they are happening on iOS too. I have created a number of offline map areas for use in the field. The map begins to download alright but when the icon is almost complete the following message appears at the bottom of the screen "An error occured downloading the map area". I've managed to download several other, smaller map areas and sync them without issue, but not this one. This specific area is 228.7 MB. When going into Server Manager Error Logs the most consistent error with every download failure is the following: SEVERE Sep 30, 2020, 1:49:04 PM Missing layers. System/SyncToolsEx.GPServer The web map itself from which the offline map areas are devised does not appear to be missing any layers, and it has been refreshed and packaged prior to a download attempt. Is it a size issue? An instance cap issue with the SyncTools? The Offline Map Areas would be a great functionality for our team but it's been unreliable so far and isn't very explicit in telling users what exactly went wrong. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I've recently taken up a new position as a GIS Specialist at a small nonprofit. Normally we operate using Azure sponsorship credits - which have been depleted for this year, and the monthly storage costs of our Azure data is getting prohibitive. We operate with one VM that houses our ArcGIS Server and Enterprise DataStore. Because of I'm guessing, the nature of Azure blob storage, it's very difficult to see what is eating up so much of our space. I'm wondering if anyone else has a similar setup and how I may go about looking into the Portal Content or the Datastore to determine what features we have that are taking up the most space. I'd like to be able to make a dent in our organization's storage costs. I use AGO Assistant occasionally but I haven't seen any tools in there that give a good assessment of service size. I'm very new to Azure and the server-side specifics of Enterprise (beyond being just an end-user) and doing my best to get acquainted with the complexity! Any resources or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi all, Our organization is running ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1. Recently we have had an issue where a few of our organization's regularly-used apps suddenly disappeared from our portal Home and Content. Two of them reappeared on their own, unprompted. But one of them still has not, and it is not present when looking through AGO-Assistant either. I have rebooted our server, and performed a re-index from the Portal Administrator to attempt to address the problem with no luck. Has anyone had any similar issues with Portal, and what might some solutions be? Thank you, Henry

Thank you for the input, Unfortunately when I try to change the Domain name via the same method I still get hit with the Error: 500 message, with the old domain name I wanted to change listed instead of the new one I was attempting to input. I will give the Solutions Deployment tool through ArcGIS Pro a shot, see if that is any easier.

Hi all, I've been attempting to update the JSON of a Feature Service with new Coded Domain Values. I have managed this with one of my other features, but in another I have run into this error, where xxxxx equals the domain name. { "error": { "code": 500, "message": "ERROR: Domain is used beyond the scope of the service. Domain name: xxxxxxxx", "details": [] } } I've read that this is because there is another service that uses this same domain name - although from my investigations this doesn't seem to be the case. We are using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1, and not AGOL. I would prefer to continue editing services through the Rest API because of its utility, but would an alternative be to download a local copy of the Service to my ArcMap client and edit the domain through there and republish, or would I likely run into the same Domain Name issue? Any suggestions or advice are welcome!

Yes! It was a little finicky but I was able to update the JSON with the new coded domains of the Hosted Feature Layer that I wanted. It showed up across my other webmaps and the associated Survey records the new values appropriately. Strange that for many people using ArcGIS Enterprise the JSON does not seem to appear. I've read other comments on that issue. Hopefully it can be addressed in the future. Thank you!

Hi all, I am attempting to edit one of our organization's hosted feature layers through the Rest API. We have a hosted layer that needs to be updated to better match a new version of one of our Survey123 forms - specifically with the addition of several coded domain values. I was using this blog for guidance: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/How-to-Update-Hosted-Feature-Service-Schemas1.pdf?rmedium=bulk-arcgis-files&rsource=http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/files/2014/10/How-to-Update-Hosted-Feature-Service-Schemas1.pdf However, within Update Definition, the input (where the editable JSON should appear) is totally blank. I also tried copying the JSON at the front of the rest URL, edited it, verified the JSON, but when I tried to paste it into the Input here with my changes and click 'updateDefinition' I received this error: For my last attempt I used AGO-Assistant to view the layer's JSON and attempted to replace it with the updated JSON. But the changes did not register. The JSON presented in AGO was also shorter and missing much of the information from the JSON at the rest URL. Our organization is currently using ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Enterprise, not AGOL, so I'm not sure if that could be a factor. At this point the simplest solution for me would be to make a local copy of the feature layer and overwrite it, but its being used in so many webmaps and customizations so that is really a last resort option for me. Any thoughts as to why this could be happening? Workarounds?
