They predate NAD27, so they're not on that GCS/datum. There was a New England datum, but there are no transformations from it to anything else that I'm aware of. The actual coordinate system of the map is unlikely to be geographic aka latitude/longitude, but they annotated it with a graticule and not with the grid (projected coordinate system) information. You should probably try to georeference it with physical points like buildings or possibly street intersections, not the lat/lon tics.

I'm sorry about the late reply. To me, it looks like you defined the projection (projected coordinate system) to be a UTM zone. Is that correct? If so, that's not right, you need to define it as a geographic coordinate system, probably NAD 1983 aka North American Datum 1983. It's in the geographic coordinate systems, North America folder. The Poles data is in latitude-longitude, decimal degrees. Redefine the coordinate system as NAD83 using the Define Projection tool or the data's property page in ArcCatalog. Melita

Have you tried the batch mode of the Project Tool? Right-click the tool in ArcToolbox and select Batch. You have to do a lot of copy/paste/edit, but it's much more stable then the Batch Project Tool. Melita

QGIS uses GDAL and PROJ.4 for coordinate systems. Miguel, check the Camacupa UTM 33S definition in QGIS and look for the PROJ.4 string. It will look something like this: +proj=tm +lon_0=15.0 +lat_0=0.0 ... See if there is a +towgs84 parameter and post those values here. With those values, we can look up an equivalent transformation for ArcMap, or tell you how to define a custom geographic/datum transformation. I don't know how to fix it in Runtime, but you have coordinates that are 'above' the valid latitude for EPSG::3857 (Web Mercator) and the line is crossing the dateline aka +/-180.

If you have an older copy of the software, it might not be there. But you can type in 31277 in the search box in ArcMap for instance and it will select MGI Balkans 7. Otherwise, it's in projected coordinate systems, National Grids, Europe.

Before you project the layer, try setting the same transformation in the ArcToolbox properties: Right-click ArcToolbox in the ArcToolbox window and select Environments Open Output Coordinates Under Geographic Transformations, click the pull-down and select Indian_1975_to_WGS_1984_2. Hi Pradeep, Because you said you were getting negative values after projecting the data, can you post the extents of the dataset? We don't have a lot of information about transformations in India. There's one, Indian_1975_To_WGS_1984_1, that covers India and Nepal, but it's questionable. Survey of India just doesn't release that much information. I would suggest modifying the data's coordinate system by replacing the geographic coordinate system with Indian 1975. You can do this through the data's property page in ArcCatalog. Next use the Project tool to create a new dataset in WGS84. Melita

If that's the case, you might look at batch converting using the Convert Coordinate Notation, or NGA's Geotrans software. It will do file-based batch conversions.

If the MGRS data was collected during the Vietnam war, Then it was likely using maps like this one, that were based on Indian 1975. In that case, you'll have to georeference/convert them using an Indian 1975-based map, then convert the results to WGS84. At least, I think! (it's been a long week)
