Hello dear colleagues, It is going to be very important, since ArcGIS Pro started to work with 3D voxel model. Most of block models from mining industry has rotation angle, and It is impossible to transform coordinates from local grid to one of international grids without rotation. So, the implementation of the projection of rotated pole in ArcGIS would be the best solution.

Good morning everyone! I would like to ask if there is a way to define my coordinates, taking into account that I don't know their coordinates system. Is there a way to determine it? All I have is an xls file. Thank you very much for your collaboration!

Hi Aaron, Your post may be moved to the coordinate reference systems 'place' as this one is for the Runtime SDK for Java rather than the Java Geometry API. You're correct that you'll need to project the geometries to a projected coordinate reference system before buffering. I wouldn't suggest using 3857 (Web Mercator) as it's quite distorted except near the equator. There's not a good answer for you. Even for so-called 'equidistant' projections, they maintain distances from one or two points or along certain lines, like all north-south lines. One intensive solution is to create a custom projected coordinate system for each geometry. If they're points, center an azimuthal equidistant projection, run the buffer, then reproject to whatever coordinate reference system you're using. If you don't need really accurate results and are instead okay with 1 part in 2500 accuracy at the worst AND working within 3 degrees of longitude, the local UTM zone would be okay. A shortcut for UTM zones are that the WGS 84 ones have well-known IDs that look like: 326 + zone number where zone number is 01 - 60 for the northern hemisphere and 327 + zone number for the southern hemisphere I'm not going to replicate the pseudo-code here, but there's a post on GIS stackexchange that shows how to calculate the UTM zone from a latitude-longitude point. Just figured out a good way to georeference vectors in ArcPro. The key is to export the source layer to a CAD file. This can be done with the tool Export to CAD. Once you have a CAD file (or *.dwg). Highlight in the TOC the part of it that you want to be georeferenced (usually the Polyline portion). Once that portion is highlighted there will be a purple "CAD Layer manage" tab at the top. Once you go into the "CAD Layer manage" tab you can select Georeference. Note** This Georeference tool is different from the tool found under the Imagery tab**. This tool will allow you to set 2 control points only, which is not ideal but it seems to get the job done. Once your source layer matches up with the target layer you can use CAD to Geodatabase to convert the *.dwg files back into *.shp files if needed for further analysis. Agree with Dan, nice work. Until Apple releases the iPad Pro tabloid edition (17x11) , there is still value in a good 11x17 hard copy.

From what I've seen as a fed contractor, travel has been limited since at least 2012 (the fund sequestration period). Internal travel, to an agency's conferences, still happens, but it is hard to justify other travel especially outside one's region. Conferences have been cancelled due to the insecurity of travel funding, wasting everyone's time and money. I also keenly felt the lack of user presentations from government people at this last UC. We have considered sending one person to FedGIS in DC to get this back. But as I live less than 300 miles from San Diego, this will be much more expensive and stressful. Travel cuts by government agencies are probably also a huge part of why there are so few in-person classes offered in Redlands or other training centers.
