The Angry Geographer We will be adding a new privilege that will allow a member to have "manage" access to hosted feature layers. So, if a given member of your organization has this privilege, and they have access to the feature layer, they will be able to override the edit settings of the layer and have full editing access to the layer. Thus, you'll be able to share a hosted feature layer with editing disabled, but allow the members you grant the privilege, to edit any feature layer they can access. This should be coming in our next update, due out in March 2015. Thanks, Mike

If I understand your question correctly, it should just work... You have created an application with web app builder that you are hosting on your own web server. The application is not public, but shared to a group within your organization. A member of your organization signs in, goes to the group (they are a member of), finds the app and runs it. The above workflow should just work. Thanks, Mike

Adam Repsher The options are there. However, instead of adding 8 entries of date with time in a long list, we did it differently. Only the first two date formats in the list support displaying time as an option. Picking one of them activates the show time checkbox, that allows you to set the time.

Håvard Moe The problem is with null values in the field LOC_ANGLE. Internally, null values are represented as NaN in the file geodatabase, but the cloud database doesn't accept NaN, and thus fails to load the data. Also, because we load records in bulk, an error in one record will cause the group to fail. That's why you get only a small subset of your records, even though there are only a handful of Null values. So the workaround is to replace those null values with a real number, like 9999 or something. Then, once loaded, you can edit the values to clear them out. The fix will be released at our next update, Q1 2015. Thanks for sharing your data so we could find the problem. Mike

Håvard Moe Thanks for sharing your data. We've reproduced the problem and there's a bug here. It seems there's an issue copying field information from the SD file and loading it into the database (we're still isolating the problem). I'm sure that's why removing fields helped you successfully publish. We'll get this fixed and it will be part of our next update at the end of Q1 2015. If we are able to determine a work around, I'll post it here. Thanks, Mike

If the layer is an item in My Content, and all maps were created using this layer, then saving the layer settings back to the item would effectively update the popup for all maps that reference the layer. If the layer is not an item, there is no automated way to do this. If you plan to use the layer in future maps, saving the layer as an item in My Content will save the popup configuration with it. Then, whenever you use that layer, it will have the popup as you want. You'd have to add this layer to all of your maps and set the filter. thanks, Mike

When you say filtering, do you mean setting up a filter inside the map? How are you adding the data to the map? Layers that exist as items in your "My Content" can be configured once and used in many different maps. From the map viewer, you can click the arrow next to the layer name and save as an item. Most likely, the layer you've imported is not a type that supports setting up search. The only layers that allow you to define search against it are: Layers published to ArcGIS Online as a hosted feature layer Layers that reference ArcGIS Server Map services or Feature services with Query operation enabled. This help topic tells you how to edit the service properties for an arcgis server layer and enable query. About editing services—Documentation | ArcGIS for Server

Jorge, Because the missing points don't exist in the SD file, I don't think those points got copied. When you publish, the data copied to ArcGIS Online is based on the full extent of the data frame. Is it possible that those missing points are just outside the full extent set on the data frame? Here's a help topic that may be useful. Copying data to the server automatically when publishing—Documentation | ArcGIS for Server In the section Best practices for copying data, it says that only the data within the full extent of the data frame will be copied. Jorge, The features you highlight in your screenshot are not part of the SD file you posted. I'm not sure why they're not there. But that's why they didn't show up in your resulting hosted layer. Do you have another SD file? Mike

Desktop items are excluded from search results by default, unless you check the box that says "Show ArcGIS desktop content" on the left side in the search results. Once checked, it will remain until you clear your browser cache, I believe. Thanks, Mike

Dan, We've reproduced your issue. This issue was introduced on Wednesday and will be updated by next week. I see that in your case, the layer is stored as an item.So the workaround is to save the scale range to the layer item. 1. Open your web map 2. Set the visible scale range on the layer. 3. Click the layer context menu arrow (small icon next to layer name in contents). 4. Click Save Layer This will save the visible scale range to the layer item, so when the map opens, it will read it from there instead of locally in the web map itself. Note that by saving the visible scale range to the item, any new map you add this layer to will also have the same visible scale range set by default. Also, any other properties you enabled on the layer, such as popups, will also be saved to the layer item. Thanks, Mike
