The Basic Viewer template, access from the Share button>create Web Application option when viewing the map in arcgis.com will allow you to publish a web application that allows the user of the application to turn layers on and off. Turning layers on and off, however, is not available for the embedded map. Thanks, Mike

Looks like you've fixed your problem. The issue on our side is that we support images of 32x32 pixels in size. If either dimension of the image is larger than 32, we resize to 32. Thus, in your case, we were distorting your image because only the height of your image was larger (63 pixels). The solution is to make your images 32x32 and it will look fine and no scaling will occur. On our side, we'll change our code to scale proportionally in the future. Thanks for your help with this issue. Mike

I've written up an enhancement request and we'll see what we can do. I the mean time, you need to stick with square icons...just enlarge your current one to 64x64 pixels and then it will scale proportionally. Mike

We do scale icons to 32x32. I believe this is what google maps does. We probably could scale the symbols proportionally. Can you share your KML file? Thanks, Mike

Some items are physically stored inside ArcGIS Online, like web maps and other types of uploaded content, like Map Documents (MXDs) created in ArcGIS Desktop. Some items are references to things that exist on the web already. These are things like references to a web mapping application, where you provide the URL to the actual running application. Here's the list of content that can be managed in ArcGIS Online. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisonline/help/index.html#/Supported_content/010q0000000m000000/ hope this helps, Mike

No the size will not be increased. Instead, you'll use an alternate workflow of creating a service out of your data. Thanks, Mike

I am using Firefox 7.0.1 and don't see these issues. There may be a problem with how Firefox is configured to access the internet. You might also try clearing your browser cache. Are you having any problems accessing other websites? Perhaps you can try the old standby and reboot your computer... Mike

While the web application may be running on your web server, the web map it's accessing isn't. It's stored in ArcGIS Online, outside your intranet. Because you have not shared your web map publicly, you need to sign in to access it. Only the people in the groups you've shared it with will be able to access it. They will need to sign in as well. You can embed the credentials directly into the web application, but then anyone who views the page source can see them. It might be better to just make your web map public. Thanks, Mike

It's working... I uploaded a KML file to my Content, then clicked Open from the item details page. There may be a problem with your specific KML, perhaps you can share it publicly on ArcGIS Online. Thanks, Mike
