The zoning layer doesn't draw because the Shape field is hidden. You need to make this field visible in the service. One question for you...why have you authored your map with the individual layers, rather than the entire map service? For example, you are adding a layer using the URL to the specific layer, like this: "https://secure.ci.longmont.co.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/Planning/StVrainCorridor/MapServer/10" rather than the whole map service with all its layers, like this: "https://secure.ci.longmont.co.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/Planning/StVrainCorridor/MapServer" The error message you are seeing when displaying the web application is a bug that we'll need to address. Thanks. If you add all the layers in the whole map service, you won't see this error. Thanks, Mike

The hosted tiled map service only can return tiles. It doesn't support queries against the data. We have discussed the need to support queries and the hosted feature service can do this now. As far as achieving equivalent functionality with ArcGIS Server map services, I'm not privy to the details on if/when we would do that. Mike

Loading shapefiles directly into a web map is not working at this time. Also, with Explorer Online, loading of CSVs is not working. We are working to resolve this problem. Is this the problem you are seeing? Or do you have a web map with a CSV that you loaded into the web map prior to today and you're not seeing the features in the web map? Thanks, Mike

Yes, this is related to your organizational subscription. An organization can override the default list of web app templates with their own by pointing at a group. I'm guessing someone did this, but the group they pointed to doesn't have any templates in it. If you are an admin of your organization, edit the settings of the organization from the My Organization page. Go to the Map tab and check the setting for Web App Templates. You should be able to set it to ESRI Default and get your templates. If it's already set that way, there could be a bug here that we'll need to look into more. Thanks, Mike

What do you mean your layers no longer show up? Are they not drawing? There is a bug introduced recently that if you have a layer named with a percent sign (%), you don't see that layer in the legend. Renaming the layer solves the problem. Thanks, Mike

If you are publishing your web map through one of the application templates on ArcGIS.com, and hosting it there too, then there really isn't a way to do this for templates that don't support a splash screen. There are a few templates named "storytelling..." that do show a splash screen that let you type in some text that will appear. If you want to do anything more, you'll have to download the template, modify the code, and host it on your own web server. The code attachment is a zip file that contains whatever amount of code you deem necessary. Thanks, Mike

What I would suggest is to get your data into CSV format. Then, you will be able to map the addresses in Explorer Online (http://www.arcgis.com/explorer). Currently, only Explorer Online can add a layer with addresses (up to 250 address locations) to a web map. Explorer Online is simply another application that can create and read web maps. Just sign in with your same username. The Image Link is the URL to the image on the web somewhere. This would be the URL to the actual head shot of the researcher. The Image Link URL is a URL that will open a new browser window if someone clicks on the image in the popup window. You might, for example, provide a URL to a website that shows information about the person. good luck, Mike

When you add layers to the map based on map services, the symbolization is defined by the service itself. You can adjust the transparency of the service as a whole, however, by clicking the arrow next to the layer name in the Contents panel. You can also add individual layers from your map service as an individual layer in the web map. Choose the Add>Layer from web and enter the URL to a particular layer, like this:http://gisweb.brooklinema.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/whereami/MapServer/3. In this case, the layer gets loaded into the web map and drawn by the web browser. This works for small numbers of features and is also browser specific. If you add too many features, the performance will suffer. Thanks, Mike
