Nicholas, Regarding opening web maps in ArcMap, ArcMap doesn't currently support all the layer types that can be in a web map. Version 10.1 will support all the layer types in web maps including shapefiles, and when you open a web map in 10.1 layers based on shapefiles or other feature collections get converted into geodatabase feature classes. You need to add this line of code to the sample: esri.config.defaults.geometryService = new esri.tasks.GeometryService("http://tasks.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Geometry/GeometryServer"); Add it in the function, function jQueryReady() This service is needed to display your web map. Are you expecting your attached code to work as a hosted web mapping application?  If you modify the code in a template, then you need to host the application yourself on your web server. In the future, we may be able to support this workflow, but not currently. The attachment on the web mapping application item (which is utilized for the templates in the map viewer) allows people to get the code. In the case of Esri's templates, it allows you to modify it. There is no capability to export a 'map notes' layer to a shapefile. Anyone who opens the web map should be able to see the layer. I'm not sure why your vendor can't. Thanks, Mike ... View more

Which mobile platform are you using? iOS, Android...? Have you downloaded the mobile app or are you using the native web browser on the mobile device? Which sample are you using? The link does not go to a specific sample. Are you saying your web map displays fine in the browser with your custom basemap, but not when you attempt to view it on your mobile device? You can add the CSV by pointing to the file via a URL on the web. From the Map Viewer, click the Add button and Add layer from web. The CSV has to be accessed via a URL. Whenever the map is opened, it will read the CSV and update the layer from it. thanks, Mike ... View more
