Yes, you can still add layers to your web map that point to your ArcGIS Server. Thanks, Mike

I'm not clear on exactly what you're trying to do. How are you searching for maps? They should be listed in My Content. If you are trying to combine web maps together, there really isn't a way to do this. You need to author one map and add your layers to it. Mike

If you don't have ArcGIS Server, you can essentially publish your service to Esri's ArcGIS Server running in the cloud. Thanks, Mike

I did a Save As from Excel and saved as a CSV file. Then I opened the file in Notepad and removed the comma at the end. Then it worked fine. This bug seems to be specific to Explorer Online. I was able to directly add the CSV file to the ArcGIS.com map viewer. Thanks, Mike

Turns out the problem is quite simple. Your data has two columns each named zip and notes. Column names must be unique, so you need to rename them. thanks, Mike

Shapefiles, GPX, CSV files that are directly loaded into a web map are stored in that web map. Deleting the web map also deletes the data uploaded to it. Thanks, Mike

Ileana I can see your problem. Seems like it could be a bug. I exported your Excel file to a CSV file and was able to upload that file. When I exported to CSV, I did notice that Excel added an extra comma to the end of each record. I had to manually remove it in Notepad to import the CSV into the map. Thanks, Mike

I'd say you have to clip the data first before publishing using clip from the toolbox in desktop... Thanks, Mike

In order to use ArcGIS Online beta, you need ArcGIS Desktop Beta 10.1 (or final release, which is shipping soon, or shipped already). Publishing services from desktop is available at 10.1. Thanks, Mike

We may support it in the future. Search implies selections, which the map viewer doesn't currently support. Then, you'll probably want to see the results, which means some sort of tabular display... Hosted tiled map services currently don't support queries because they are just composed of a set of tiled images. Hosted feature services do support queries. ArcGIS Server map and feature services both support queries, unless the map service is just tiles, which is rare. Thanks, Mike

Have you entered the URL to your organization? It is not the default www.arcgis.com URL. You need to "Manage Portal Connections." Run the ArcGIS Administrator App from the start menu. Click the Advanced button. Click Manage Portal Connections and enter the URL to your organization. If you don't see this workflow, you are running an older beta version of desktop (which I don't have). As I recall the Manage Portal Connections option was on the ArcGIS Online Sign In box in ArcMap. Look for a Manage Portal Connections link, I believe. Thanks, Mike

Currently, the only way to add a shapefile to a web map is from the map viewer of ArcGIS.com. We have considered adding from My Content, but just haven't. Thanks, Mike

There is no interactive labeling in the web map. Layers that reference map services support displaying the labels returned by the service. Thanks, Mike

No, the out-of-the box map viewer as part of ArcGIS.com doesn't support this. However, if your web map has services for layers, the service supports it. You could write your own app to do this. Thanks, Mike
