What do you mean "run time over" message? Are you using Internet Explorer? I suspect there may be too much data in your shapefile. Post it here and we can take a look at it. Mike

You can take a look at the JavaScript API. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples_start.htm Here's a specific sample that queries the attributes of a service. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples/query_nomap.html Hope this helps, Mike

I've passed this on to the team that manages these services. They are aware of the missing tiles issue and are working to resolve the problem. Thanks, Mike

You probably need to set up a proxy. In the Readme.html file that was downloaded, under the section "Install the web application" it says: If your application edits features in a feature service, enables the elevation chart, contains secure services or web maps that aren't publicly shared or generates requests that exceed 2000 characters you may need to setup and use a proxy page. There is a link that points here: http://help.arcgis.com/EN/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jshelp_start.htm#jshelp/ags_proxy.htm hope this helps, Mike

Are you trying to label the map? Unfortunately, there are no labeling abilities. However, if you configure a popup on the layer, you can point at a feature and get it's attributes. Mike

It may be a firewall problem. Are you accessing the application you deployed from inside your firewall, while connected to your network? You might try using some debugging tools to watch the requests get called and see any errors. Google Chrome has built in developer tools or there's an app called Fiddler you might try. If the web map has purely public services, does the app work? For example, with just the basemap does it work? Mike

Jason, This should be fixed next week when we update our JavaScript API. Perhaps check at the end of the week to see if all is ok for you. If not, let us know. Thanks, Mike

Since these items are already added to My Content, from the map viewer, you can click Add>Search for layers. You can restrict your search to My Content and just click GO. You should see all layers in your My Content that can be added to the web map (basically all services). This method shouldn't copy the token. Alternatively, when copying the URL from the browser, just don't copy the token when adding to the web map. One advantage of adding the layer from within the map is that that web map will also be able to reference the item in arcgis.com (or your organization) that the service is based on. The item details can have more "metadata" about the service than the REST endpoint provides. Also, it is possible to save symbolization and popups back to the item. That way, if the layer item is added to another web map, it will draw and have popups as defined on the item. Thanks, Mike

Each subscription includes a certain number of users and service credits and has to be renewed annually. As you use the system, credits get consumed. Effectively, your cost is based on your usage of the system, with 2500 credits currently the minimum renewal rate. If you need more credits, you can purchase them. Technical support is also included with a subscription. Credit consumption can be grouped into 3 broad categories: Storage - the amount of disk space required to store your data Computation - basically like CPU usage, which currently covers tile creation and geocoding Bandwidth - how much network traffic is consumed to access your data and services This is a somewhat simplified description of pricing. Contact the regional office closest to you for more details. http://www.esri.com/about-esri/offices/index.html Existing beta users have been transitioned to trial subscriptions, I believe. As I understand it, you should be contacted by Esri before the expiration date about converting your trial to a subscription. Thanks, Mike

Yes, I need more information on what specifically you are doing. There is a case where the legend will display an "other" category and if my memory serves me, you can't remove that. However, can you share the web map in question? Are you creating a web application from it? Can you share the web app URL too? Thanks, Mike

From the ArcGIS.com website and with a subscription, you can take a shapefile or CSV and create a feature serivce from the data. At the present time, the only way to create a hosted tiled map service is to publish it from ArcGIS Desktop. What functionlality is the JavaScript sample doing? There are some differences between hosted map services and map services published to ArcGIS Server. ArcGIS Server map services have a "dynamic" mapping capability where images are generated on the fly, and also they support queries against the data. Hosted map services don't support queries, because they consist of just the tiles. However, if you've created a hosted feature service along with the hosted tiled map service, then the feature service can support queries. Thanks, Mike

Basically you need to remove the layer and add it again to the map. However, since the layer didn't load into the web map anyway, simply save your web map again. The layer will be removed because it's not currently being displayed. THen, add the layer again using this URL. "http://services.arcgis.com/w8auYAijfGK1Mydj/arcgis/rest/services/Dispersed_Rec_Areas_dissolved_mp/FeatureServer/0" Somehow, when you added it to the map originally, a security token got appended to the URL. "http://services.arcgis.com/w8auYAijfGK1Mydj/arcgis/rest/services/Dispersed_Rec_Areas_dissolved_mp/FeatureServer/0?token=vfJxpSnJ0R8maHzAVbqmYx_JPErPWO8oqn_OBuyc3rukuzhEd2Va0lN9zukPb75Q", Is it possible that you copied the URL from your browser? Perhaps at the time, you had not shared the service with everyone like it is now, so you ended up copying the security token along with the URL. The token worked for a short time before it expired. Trying to view the layer now results in an error because the token has expired. Can you can elaborate on the steps you used to add the layer to the map? Maybe there's a bug here where arcgis.com is appending the token when it shouldn't be. If you want to keep security on the layer, you can change the sharing options of the service. When you open your web map, the only users who will be able to see the layer are those that are members of the group you shared it with or if you shared it with your organization, then everyone in your organization. Thanks, Mike

Jason. I can see the problem. We'll have to look at it. It seems like the template is not following the scale dependency of the layer. I assume that if you remove scale dependencies, it will work, although I didn't try it. Thanks, Mike

There isn't a way to do what you're trying to do with shapefiles. Each shapefile is separate. Route lines and stops can't be combined in the same shapefile. Also there is no way to group a set of layers in the web map. The only way to do this would be to author a map service that combined your data into a service. I assume that's what's happening in the second map example you posted, but unfortunately, that map is not public and I can't view it. Currently, the only way to author a service is with ArcGIS Server. Shortly, we will allow you to create a service in Esri's cloud, by purchasing a subscription to ArcGIS Online. Thanks, Mike
