I've got a layer called Accommodation which shows Hotels, Campsites, Caravan Parks and Hostels. I've set a clusterer on this layer, and it works fine. Is it possible to create a Grouped Layer, whereby users have the option to switch the various accommodation types on/off, but still have the clustering? It should look something like this, where the * represents a checkbox: * Accommodation __ * Hotels __ * Campsites __ * Caravan Parks __ * Hostels The clustering should apply at the Accommodation level. Is this possible? At the moment the REST endpoint is Accommodation but I can create separate ArcMap layers for the various types if necessary. Thanks, Steve

When I look in my REST Services catalog, I can see that a MINSCALE has been defined for a layer: Min. Scale: 250000 How can I use this value in Silverlight, without having to hard-code it? That is, I want this layer in Silverlight to use whatever value for MINSCALE was set using ArcMap. Thanks, Steve

Do you have clientaccesspolicy.xml or crossdomain.xml file on your web server? Genius - that was the problem. Thanks very much for your help! That blog post is great. Thanks also for the tips on Fiddler, which may prove useful in further debugging.

Hi Bjorn, I've tried your suggestion but I'm getting the same result as Jan - the Zoom Here popup shows, but doesn't contain any information when I click on the points. My config.xml file contains: <operationallayers> <layer label="Gold Rush" type="feature" visible="true" alpha="1" url="http://qsq-brcon15-pc/ArcGIS/rest/services/Atlas_goldrush/MapServer/0"/> info="widgets/InfoTemplates/SimpleInfoWinWidget.swf" infoconfig="widgets/InfoTemplates/IWT_GoldRush.xml" </operationallayers> <widget label="Identify" icon="assets/images/i_info.png" config="widgets/InfoTemplates/IWT_GoldRush.xml" url="widgets/InfoTemplates/SimpleInfoWinWidget.swf"/> IWT_GoldRush.xml contains: <?xml version="1.0" ?> <configuration> <fields>XCoord</fields> <titlefield>XCoord</titlefield> <linkfield></linkfield> <datefields></datefields> <!-- field in milliseconds --> <zoomscale>5000</zoomscale> </configuration> http://qsq-brcon15-pc/ArcGIS/rest/services/Atlas_goldrush/MapServer/0 shows that the field XCoord exists. Thanks for any advice, Steve

The demographic analysis sample at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/live/index.html?config=config-thematic.xml looks great. But it's not really a useable "sample" unless we can see how it works. Can we get access to the widgets and other files? Thanks, Steve

Hi everyone, I need some help with a quick ArcGIS Server question. I'm running ArcGIS Server 10 on XP, with Visual Studio 2010 and Silverlight 4. Everything is working correctly when using the sample ESRI servers, but I'm having problems with my Silverlight app seeing my ArcGIS Server services. A simple example using a sample ESRI server is: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightApplication1.MainPage" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:esri="http://schemas.esri.com/arcgis/client/2009"> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <esri:Map x:Name="MyMap" > <esri:ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer ID="StreetMapLayer" Url="http://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/ESRI_StreetMap_World_2D/MapServer"/> </esri:Map> </Grid> </UserControl> This opens correctly and shows a world map. If I replace the URL line with Url="http://qsq-brcon15-pc/ArcGIS/rest/services/Atlas_geology/MapServer"/> the app opens and shows the "powered by ESRI" logo, but no map content is shown. If I open the Rest Services page, I can see that this is a valid tiled service (full details below). If I choose "View In ArcGIS JavaScript" the dataset displays correctly. The same thing happens with Feature and Dynamic layers. It appears that Silverlight is installed correctly, and ArcGIS Server is working correctly, but for some reason they're not talking to each other. Do you have any suggestions for how I can debug this? Have you tried setting this to 2? <thumbcount>2</thumbcount> Is this more what you're expecting? Hi Dasa, Unfortunately this doesn't have any effect - the points are still displayed at all times, rather than switching off when expected. (I cleared the cache and refreshed the viewer after making the change). Thanks, Steve

The Static legend sample shows how to embed a legend as an image. What is required in order to make this legend moveable? That is, the legend can be moved around on the screen and opened/closed, like other widgets. Thanks, Steve

Hi Bjorn, Thanks for the info. I can now show a time slider widget to switch the features on at the correct time - cool! The problem is that they are not switching OFF at the correct time - my features have a Start and End time. In ArcMap, features are removed from the map when they are no longer active, but using the Flex Viewer with the Time Slider widget, they stay on the map at all times. I experimented with the singlethumbastimeinstant option but either True or False returns the same result. Any clues? Thanks, Steve

Re: the sample at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/silverlight/samples/start.htm#OverviewMap Switch to the XAML page then the Live Sample page, and note that the overview map initially does not draw. You need to pan/zoom the map before the overview map initialises. This also happens when I compile and run this code locally. Any ideas why the overview map doesn't show immediately? Thanks, Steve

I'm trying to implement the sample at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/widgets/timeslider_widget.htm but can't work out how to hook it up to a time-aware layer. I've got a point featureclass which is time-aware - it's shown in the services catalog as: Time Info: Start Time Field: Start End Time Field: End Track ID Field: N/A Time Extent: [1851/01/01 00:00:00 UTC, 2010/01/01 00:00:00 UTC] Time Reference: N/A Time Interval: 8 (esriTimeUnitsYears) Export Options: Use Time: True Time Data Cumulative: False Time Offset: 0 There is a sample TimeWidget.xml included with the sample Flex Viewer - but how do I actually hook it up to my point layer? There's nothing in the XML file which shows which layer it should apply to. Is it possible to see the full code used in the sample at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/live/index.html?config=../samples/config-timeslider.xml ? Thanks for any advice, Steve

Hi Derek, Thanks very much for the info. Ideally it would be great if the help file for the Viewer followed the same format as the Silverlight page at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/silverlight/samples/start.htm (whereby there's a working sample plus raw code for every sample). Another quick question is how to build an Identify tool. The installable sample includes files like IWT_311.xml in the InfoTemplates folder. How would I actually implement these files? eg, the IWT_311.xml file doesn't mention a layer, so presumably there's a layer definition somewhere, to tell this tool which layer to use. Can you please point me in the right direction here? Thanks, Steve

I'm new to the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex, and I'm finding the help system a bit confusing. I've installed the sample viewer and it's working fine. The Getting Started page at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html contains some simple parameter tweaks like changing the starting map extent - this works fine too. My question is where to obtain information on parameters like basemaps and operational layers. Eg, where can I find detailed information on how to specify a new mapservice? The included map services use type="tiled" and alpha="1" - where are these listed, so I can find out what they mean, and how to change them? Does the viewer automatically convert all layers into the same coordinate system? If not, how can I specify the coordinate system to use? I guess I'm finding this confusing because the Sample gallery contains working examples but not much in the way of detailed code. Thanks for any advice, Steve
