Hi Kelly, Your legend works fine for me, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Once our web server is outwardly facing I'll get you to try it and see if we can reproduce the problem. Cheers, Steve

Hi Kelly, Unfortunately my server isn't yet accessible externally. But hopefully the description above is enough for you to recreate a similar service? Basically just use a Unique Values renderer, select a couple of classes, and choose Group. Thanks, Steve

Any response from ESRI? What's the best way to submit this as a bug report, given that I'm an EDN customer so don't have access to the full tech support? Thanks, Steve

Documentation for the new legend widget says "the legend will respect scale dependencies and only display layers and sub layers that are currently visible in the map. The legend automatically updates if the visibility of a layer or sublayer changes." Could the legend also respect the timeExtent of a layer, and only show features which are visible at the current time? eg, Category A exists from 1900 - 1920. When the time slider is moved to 1921, remove Category A from the legend. Please let me know if you need any further information. Steve

In ArcMap, create a Unique Values symbology, select multiple categories, then right-click and Group them. Publish to ArcGIS Server and add as a dynamic map service. Using the new JS API version 2.1 legend widget, create a legend from this layer. I'm finding that the grouped categories display multiple times. Eg, if the group consists of 3 individual categories, the (identical) symbol will appear in the legend 3 times. Please let me know if you need any further information to reproduce this bug. Thanks, Steve PS I have no idea why this title has a smiley face. Maybe that's another bug.

Hi Derek, Yeah, I should have provided more details about what I'm trying to do. For reasons I don't fully understand (the map is part of a larger and more complicated site) it isn't possible simply to say <img src="geology_legend.jpg"> The images for the legends will need to be stored in a database rather than as simple images in a directory. I figured it might be possible to use ArcGIS Server as the database and server. I'll post back if we end up finding a solution. Thanks, Steve

The new legend widget works well when using a legend defined in ArcMap. I need to use a complicated legend, which has been created in a graphics package and provided as an image. I thought of storing it in a geodatabase, serving it via ArcGIS Server, and displaying it in a static map frame. Any better/easier ideas? Thanks, Steve

I'd like to implement some AJAX-style prompting as the user enters an address, which would require using a wildcard in the address search. eg, name like 'par*' Is this possible using the ArcGIS geocoder? As far as I can see, there's no way to return all values which start with the chosen string. Thanks, Steve

Microsoft recently updated their base mapping at http://www.bing.com/maps/ and it looks great. Further details are available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg427610.aspx Is this background mapping available from within the ArcGIS Server JS API? I'm currently using the method outlined at http://help.arcgis.com/EN/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples_start.htm Thanks, Steve

I'm trying to symbolise a polygon dataset using Graduated Symbols. This works fine when the layer is Dynamic, but doesn't work when it's a Feature Layer. Is a Featuer Layer with Graduated Symbols supported? I'm using an MSD with the symbology properties set in ArcMap. Thanks, Steve

Thanks again Kelly, I'll give it a go. It would definitely be nice to be able to include the formatting directions in the infoWindow template, rather than having to listen for the click event.

By default, double-clicking the map window will zoom the map in. When a feature layer or graphic layer is present, single-clicking the feature/graphic shows the infoWindow. Is it possible to have both behaviours present simultaneously? Eg, double-click over one of the states in the sample at http://help.arcgis.com/EN/webapi/javascript/arcgis/demos/query/query_click.html and the infoWindow displays, but the map doesn't zoom in. Thanks, Steve

Hi Brad, Thanks for the reply. As far as I can see, the problem is that the value of the attribute isn't evaluated at the time that the infoTemplate is created (so there's nothing to round yet). The code is setting up a template that is read at the point at which the graphic object is created. Put another way - I can't see how to put the Math.round directive in the code above, and have it run as JavaScript, rather than being quoted as text. I'm not a JS expert....... Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Steve
