Seems like I need to build everything without ever having to close the dialog. if I do close, when I reopen, and try and save after I have changed something I generate a backup file. This seems kinda limiting. I would like to reopen a project, to change parameters, or do you just change the parameters via the xml file thereafter? The wizard is only for creating brand spanking new add-ins, not necessarily modifying existing add-ins. Does this make sense?

So, from reading I just run the add in assistant, but the doc keep referring to having the addins installed, is that referring to the actual .addin file, or is this referring to the add in wizard. Do we just unzip the addin wizard, run the tool and then modify the python files in the project folder? I am a bit confused...

I can use the align tool to remove overlap, fill gaps (A one stop shop), it is great for tight areas as long as your cluster tol is small enough. Modify and reshape edge are more handy for larger areas, like greater than a few feet, this is where align starts to see issues. The align tools seem to me as the go to tools going forward for a lot of editing. I now think i get it, on why LS was so stoked at holistic. I am currently editing at like 1:2.5, I cannot do that currently, awesome. These two align tools totally justify moving to 10.1 for production when released, just don't break them between today and the spring 🙂

You guys have done a tremendous job on editing at really large scales. I can easily zoom to 1:1 and actually draw pretty fast. Huge perf improvements at being at this extent compared to 10. This wasn't even mentioned at the UC. Seems to be very stable.

So, one of the coolest uses for the new Align to edge, is we can take the cluster tol down to extremely low values, and be able to edit just as fast as if we had a higher tol. This makes our data better, much better, and not lose on the productivity. Very nice.

Yes, very handy, doesn't like the small stuff so far, but now with new GDB capability, I can make my cluster smaller, awesome.

Yes. ArcMap no longer automatically opens or closes any editing windows anymore. The Create Features window is only opened for you the very first time you start editing (per normal.mxt). After that, if you close it, it stays closed. In the blogs section of the beta Resource Center, I have a post that mentions this. See the part, "Create Features window remembers its previous state" in http://betablogs.esri.com/beta/arcgis/2011/08/01/feature-template-enhancements/ I have blog posts coming about what's new in editing (particularly on the topology and alignment enhancements). I'll put up about one every week or so, so keep checking there for new entries and videos. Cool, thank you.

If I edit currently, and the create features window along with the attributes window, and the topology error inspector are open for my edits, etc..., if I stop editing, they close automatically, what I am encountering at 10.1, is the windows all stay open. Is that expected?

Andrew - So, today, I see 255, so i will have to be watchful of this next time i enable. So, are you the pe for tracking? Is this tracking capability a property of ArcGIS, where ArcGIS fully manages the values (like global ID), if so, I should not be able to edit these fields. Currently, I can go back and overwrite the fields calc'd from GIS, in some situations. I should see the columns headings as gray and not white. Also, if I have a domain set for my editor field (which we do), and I add a new polygon, or cut a poly, my field is calculated correctly, but if I try and overwrite the value with my domain, I am able to select my domain, but when I click outside of the actual record, it defaults back to my GIS managed username that was entered after the change. If I do not have a domain set, I have full access to overwrite. Also, speaking of domains, if I add then try and validate features, the validation from the editor drop down, shows invalid features. Is topology validation suppose to change any records, like last edit, currently, it does not? Basically, I like the idea that I cannot overwrite, so I am keen on setting a domain to limit the editor from overwriting, so will probably do this with CreatorName as well. Is this expected?

If I disable editor tracking, the disable is still active. enable is active as well. I would expect that before enabling, the enable would be active, and the disable would be inactive. After enabling, the enable would be inactive, and the disable would be active, and then after a disable, the disable should be inactive, with the enable active.

if I enable tracking but forget about creator fields, is there an easy way to add and associate these fields or would the process be to disable, then reenable with these creator fields. Like that if the fields do not exist, they will be created.
