Ted These 2 ESDA tools creates "dots" on the graph, where each dot represents what happens between 2 points. The number of points in the graph can be calculated by computing n(n+1)/2, where n=number of points. We have done testing and determined that n=500 is sufficient, i.e. 125,250 dots on the graph. Using more than 500 points really does not tell you much more, so we decided to warn you each time. n=1000 will create half a million dots, will you learn any more than if you used n=500? A rule of thumb when doing ESDA is to create a subset (use the CreateSubsets GP tool) if you're using a large dataset. 1000 is large when talking to geostatisticians. I cannot repro the crash. Ted We introduced the new Wizard in 10. The reason it stays on top is to ensure that it does not get "lost". I.e. it gets moved off the page or something else gets on top of it. Also, because it is an interactive tool, it should be the focus of attention. I.e. Add Field tool can be run before or after the Wizard is used. We do take note of your concerns and we'll see if we could change it in some or other way. To change the order of which field comes first. Setting the field to be used is not a Geostats function but an ArcGIS function and it has been around for a while. - Right click on the Feature layer in the TOC - click on Layer and then on the Display tab - under the Display Expression section select the Field (note for Geostats it must be numeric) - hit OK That field will be the default field in the ESDA tools and also in the Wizard. it really only is a problem if you have cursor focus, otherwise its nice to have it on top, besides, you are right, it is my focus at that exact moment or for as long as I am tweaking my attributes. I'm having the same issue with Maplex (many items greyed out). I guess I can go the uninstall/reinstall route. When I installed it, I didn't put in an authorization code, but just checked that I wanted to evaluate it. I wonder if that is causing the problem? Which version of desktop are you using? ... Perhaps a similiar behavior to the Crosscovariance tool, where I set the top data source, see the annoying popus twice, but when I hit the second tier, I don't see the popups. It seems like I may have experienced a crash with this tool as well, not a physical crash, but a not responding crash. Duped twice. So, it completes, but I do get an unspecified error in the crosscovariance tab. So, that's cool, after I get the unspecified error, I can still add it to layout, so that works...  it is still unspecified, but I can see it on my map.  if I shake the dialog, I can see the error jiggle 🙂 ... So, at this point I have open the Covariance Cloud, Histogram, Voronoi, and Normal QQ Plot dialogs and no crash, so if I open up the trend, what will happen.  Has my luck changed for the better? With my smaller subset, no problem.  Perhaps, a Data Loader dialog could be used here like what you have done for the Semivariogram/Covariance Cloud.  Instead of saying that less is more to find the interesting data, it could say, if you use more than 1000, it may crash. ... View more

I am also seeing the vertical rotate wheel works only sometimes, like if I whiz through it to flip it around, then flip it back, it seems to not do anything.  I have to hit the horizontal wheels to get the rotation to process. ... View more
