Using SQL Server, I set-up a user and connected via ArcSDE. The user can see all datasets and relationship classes, but no data. I have not granted any permissions yet. Given I have not granted any permissions to database objects yet, why can the user see the datasets and relationships? Did I set something up wrong with the user? I do not want the user to see anything until I grant read access. Any help would be very much appreciated!

It appears ISQLPrivilege provides access to members for granting and revoking privileges to database users with ArcSDE geodatabases. Is there an event interface to hook into when grant or revoke occurs on a database object? I would like to validate all grant/revoke requests for users before they occur. Can I do this with a Workspace Extension? Any suggestions are very much appreciated! Thanks!

Your belief is correct. ArcGIS Server Standard can serve ArcGlobe (3dd) services. You do need 3D Analysts to create the ArcGlobe Documents (3dd). Mark Thank you. Technically, I was able to confirm this as well.

For ArcGIS Server, what license level do I need to publish Globe Services? Standard or Advanced? Do I need the 3D ArcGIS Server extension? I believe I only need Standard without the 3D extension. But, I do need ArcGIS Desktop 3D Analyst to create the .3dd files. Is this correct? Thanks.

I have ArcGIS Server 10 Globe services based on 3dd files. These work great in ArcGlobe, but when added to ArcGIS Explorer, ArcGIS Explorer crashes. I tried on two different client machines and ArcGIS Explorer crashes on both. Can ArcGIS Explore consume Globe Services? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks! For whatever reason, the globe services started working. Not sure what I did, but it appears resolved. Please disregard.

Hi Jerry, I'm afraid not, there's no changing of the ribbon possible at run time. The contents of the ribbon tabs are all worked out when the application loads, for example any new Add-Ins are found and loaded into the Add-Ins tab at that point. I dont even know any ways that you could work around this behind the scenes I'm afraid. Since the nmf is XML, we are building this on-the-fly and launching it.

How do users know when points are stacked on top of each other without clicking? I do not believe your explanation solves this issue? We have roughly 200+ combinations of icons that could be stacked on top of each other at one time. Based on a smaller subset, we will create icon images on-the-fly to represent multiple points stacked on top of each other. We will assign the new icons on-the-fly to graphic points in the globe. This works for now. Thanks.

Jerry, I believe, you are referring to interacting bit. In ArcGIS Explorer we've solved it by clicking directly on graphics. Once clicked, mini-window appears listing graphics identified at that location. How do users know when points are stacked on top of each other without clicking? What is the best way to display points on top of points with different marker symbols? I am trying to do this with graphics, i.e. note. If I disperse them when zoomed in and then go to full extent, they appear on top of each other; I cannot see marker symbols from each point. Google Earth does this well automatically by hovering the mouse over it disperses the symbols on-the-fly. Although I am not expecting this, I'm wondering what the best approach to solve this issue would be with ArcGIS Explorer? Thanks!

What do you recommend for 3D view? Our WMS services are very pixelated. We would like to improve this. Thank you. Is it ArcGIS Explorers 2D or 3D display? If 2D, you could set the map coordinate system to be the same as your WMS service. http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisexplorer/1500//en/index.html#map_properties_coordinate_systems.htm That will give the best performance as well as the best display. When the ArcGIS Explorer map coordinate system is set different from the data, it reprojects on the fly. Mark

Both of these coordinate systems have equal performance in 3D if they are fully cached map services. Our map services are not cached because we need to be able to toggle individual layers on and off in the globe. In this case, what is the recommended projection for the best performance? Apparently, you cannot turn on and off individual layers with multilayer cache map services in ArcGIS Explorer? Also, they may no longer be recommended? Thanks!
