  • Where do you work and what is your role?

Hi, My name is Priya aggarwal, I'm working with a water services company in Gurgaon, India as a GIS Executive. I am responsible to handle and manage ArcGIS Enterprise server single-handedly. I manage the AGOL workflow for different sites from Head Office. I handle the sharing of ArcMap concurrent licenses on different locations. I also create web applications using ArcGIS JavaScript API.

  • What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)

The biggest GIS success that I had this year is that my team won the first prize in our company's innovation challenge, we have submitted the method for verification of GIS data online by using the collector for ArcGIS Android. By this our surveyors and mapping staff started using AGOL on Mobiles so they can finish their mapping workflow digitally. Lately, they have been doing parcel verification with paper maps and repeatedly calling & traveling to back office to check their paper maps with the Desktop employee.

I also got the opportunity to manage ArcGIS Server single-handedly for our company and I did this with my best. I used different esri products like, ArcGIS server, portal, ArcGIS Desktop, Collector for ArcGIS, Web app builder, ArcGIS javascript APIs etc.

  • What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

I am using ArcGIS desktop since my college days (i.e. from last 5 years). I have good expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise server and portal. I have prepared different web applications using ArcGIS javascript APIs and integrate many online tools in it. All this can easily help the community by providing them an application palette where one can access the data and perform different functions as per their requirement.

Bonus Round! Post the coordinates to your favorite place on earth.

36.3932° N, 25.4615° E . this is the coordinates of Santorini, Greece. Haven't visited but would love to.

  • Where do you work and what is your role?

Hello everybody, I am Rahul Pawar, working with a Saipem Contracting Netherlands, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates as a Hydrographic Data Processor & GIS Specialist. I am responsible for management of day-to-day marine survey operations, report and chart coordination and creation and maintenance of survey database in GIS. My role is to provide data related to survey to other departments like engineering, structural, vessel operation, etc.

  • Year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)

The major achievement in this year is our Saipem has launched our own vessel tracking system using GIS Portal and I am proud to be part of that team. Currently I am using ArcGIS 10.7. we have converted our survey data in GIS format and we can track our vessels in the field. It is very helpful in daily routine work to know the status and progress of offshore survey and construction work.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

I am using ArcGIS desktop since my college days i.e. from 2007. I have good expertise in ArcGIS Desktop and portal. I am expert in acquisition and processing of Hydrographic survey data and preparing charts and reports.

19° 14’ 31.87” N & 74° 40’ 27.99” E. This is the coordinates of my village Dehare, India. I love this because of it is beautiful and very calm and I can feel the silence here.

Hi Rahul,

Can you tell us more about your hydrographic survey processing workflow - what kind of sensors are used, what processing is used to create final data, and what kind of decisions are made with the information?

Thank you,

Guy

Where do you work and what is your role?

My name is Melanie and I am a very recent MSc graduate from the University of Alberta. I don't currently have a job, but I am actively looking for one! Dream Job: Forest research biologist.

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use?

1- Used ArcMap to make high-quality maps for my thesis.

2- Helped a lab colleague download ArcGIS and gave her a crash course on the software.

3- Learned about ArcGIS Online, and was hooked. Enrolled in an online course to increase my data handling skills.

What is your expertise (GIS-related or not), and how can that help the community?

- I have knowledge in conservation planning, forest biology, and forest management.

- GIS-wise, I have been using ESRI products since 2016.

- Seeking advice: I am particularly curious about learning more on SQL in ArcGIS, and how I can use ArcGIS for projects with very large datasets. Essentially, I am looking to increase my relational database management skills. Any suggestions form the community would be wonderful. Thanks.

Bonus Round! Post the coordinates to your favorite place on earth.

52°28'17.7"N 113°59'04.4"W --> While working as a park ranger, I met my husband at this exact spot.

I highly recommend the book "Database Design for Mere Mortals" by Michael J. Hernandez. It was used in an advanced geodatabase class I took. Although I had lots of nongeo database experience, this book would have saved me a lot of time if I had found it earlier. If you have questions about SQL, try the Managing Data forum.
