ArcGIS Online is a great platform to create and share GIS maps and do analytics on the web, and its support for easy collaboration across department lines offers organizations enormous benefits.
Maybe you've been meaning to get up to speed with ArcGIS Online, but just haven't found the time. Well, no more excuses. There are lots of quick (not to mention free and low-cost) options to build up your personal knowledge base. In fact, in less than one day, you can make amazing progress. Here are three ways to make that happen.
1 hour: Watch a recorded training seminar. Esri experts present conceptual material, demonstrate a variety of quick workflows, and answer questions submitted by the live audience.
2-3 hours: Take a web course — Hands-on practice, demos, and conceptual material are all conveniently packaged together to help you understand and correctly execute focused tasks in ArcGIS Online. You even get a certificate of completion to print out and show your boss.
4 hours: An instructor-led workshop is perfect for time- and budget-challenged professionals who want to soak up the key information they need to enhance their work product or support their organization's ArcGIS Online site. A workshop is an online venue to learn best practices and time-saving tips, see typical workflows in action, and ask questions and get answers directly from an Esri expert.
Tip: If you attend a workshop, you may want to plan on brownbagging it at your desk that day. Workshops run over the lunch hour in some U.S. time zones (Pacific, Mountain, and Central).
About 10 hours: A learning plan guides you through connected workflows and helps you build skills needed to successfully complete common ArcGIS Online tasks. You can complete the plan at your own pace as your schedule permits.
