"Insert image" in info widget not working (WAB)

In my info widget of my app (in the web version of WAB as well as the Developer version) I can change the text. But I don't seem to be able to add an image to the text when using Chrome: it does not bring the window to select a picture. Edge does the same. In Firefox and SeaMonkey it takes a while but then the window opens and I can select and add a picture.

Can somebody reproduce this behaviour?

Nicole,

Do you have a popup blocker running? I have seen others say they have this issue but I do not in the latest Chorem or IE...

I thought, I answered this already...

I have a popup blocker in Chrome only.

Nichole,

I use chrome and do not have this issue. So have you tried turning off the popup blocker? And are you sure your IT dept does not have some sort of popup blocker installed. Maybe your Anti Virus is a possible culprit.

Hi Nicole,

Have you resolved the issue? I am experiencing the same issue.  Tried Chrome, Chrome Canary, IE11, Edge. No pop-up blocked enabled.

Hello again, sorry for the late reply. Too many other emergencies happening...

I am still having the same problem although I am using a new laptop since December. I made other colleagues try - it worked without any problem for one of them for the other one it also does not work (tested in Chrome and Firefox) so I don't think it could be a general rule from our IT guys. (In the meanwhile the "insert image" is also not working in Firefox any longer as it seems…)

I can also add images for example as thumbnails or as the icon for the widget which I assume is more or less the same function (isn't it?).

Any other idea where to look at?

I use TrendMicro OfficeScan but it doesn't show any activity and from the settings I don't find anything about blocking actions.

Thanks for the post, Nicole.  Same situation here; it works on colleagues' computers and on virtual machines that have the same security settings and are on the same network.   Also, I created a local user on my computer and tested.  I was not able to insert image so it is not related to corrupt user profile.   Contacted Esri Support but no help ("since issue is not reproducible, we can't help" .  I don't know what I can try next to at least narrow down possible causes. Sigh.

My workaround to solve this issue was:

-Upload image to AGOL account

-Share to the public

-Copy URL

-Open code view of widget (or where the image was supposed to be added) and add the image manually with <img src="URL" alt="" style="width:xx px; height:xx px"/> where you want to have the image inserted.

Maybe this helps someone...

Never had this problem at work on normal desktop, but with coronavirus "work from home" in place, I encountered this exact problem on my personal laptop.  I found the solution in this other thread:  https://community.esri.com/thread/205600-anyone-else-having-issues-with-the-insert-images-button-not...

Look to the bottom of the thread.  Boiled down:  Click on the top left of the "Insert Image" button and drag to the bottom right.  This is apparently some device-specific bug.  Craziness!
