Hello folks,

I am looking to export out UN dataset from Enterprise GDB to a mobile geodatabase on a monthly basis

for offline use. One way I am aware is using Export/ Import XML Workspace document. However this does not give me an option to filter out some records based on specific fields.

Any suggestions??

If you want to limit the data extracted data spatially, use Offline Work Areas. There currently isn't a way to limit the data extracted using an attribute.

Consider using the Copy GP tool instead to copy the feature dataset directly to a mobile geodatabase, bypassing the need for an XML workspace document (which can get quite large).

@MikeMillerGIS Does ArcGIS Solutions have a tool that would allow you to only copy out some features of the UN to a mobile geodatabase? Anything involving asset packages?

The Trace Results to GDB and Export Reporting Data could be used, but the output is neither an Asset Package or Utility Network.

@RobertKrisher ,

Thanks for the response. I have tried Copy tool. This doesn't seem to work as I am copying from EGDB to Mobile geodatabase. I get "000979: Cannot copy between different workspaces."

Offline work areas sound promising as spatial query may also be an option for us. However, how would we create a mobile geodatabase using offline work area? I need a mobile geodatabase to trace offline.

@JustinTrody This is the process for taking a web map offline, you may need to make some config changes to your feature dataset/utility network so I recommend testing it out in a staging environment first.

When you use the copy tool (or copy/paste) make sure you copy the feature dataset to the new geodatabase. I have done the workflow of copying data from/to mobile and enterprise geodatabases hundreds of times and can confirm it is supported and has been supported for some time.
