Survey123 Report with repeat table that excludes certain columns

I have a report with multiple repeats for collecting data. The two outside columns are not part of the repeat section but it seems the repeat wants to use all of columns in the table. I managed to get it so the report grabs the correct fields using the layer function but it still just repeats it for every row in the table when the report is generated. Anyway to force the repeat to only use the middle 3 columns or do i need to separate the tables?
