But why are losing much of control on Pro for things that are used to be quite easy and straightforward in ArcMap? The issue above is just one simple example

Hi Jamal, some of the delete/Catalog functionality that you may be referring to in Pro (in general, apart from the default items which I think has been clarified on this thread), are marked as ArcMap equivalency items.  Here are a few examples.

https://community.esri.com/ideas/14494-allow-arcgis-pro-catalog-panel-to-delete-csvtxt-files

https://community.esri.com/ideas/14493-allow-arcgis-pro-catalog-panel-to-delete-mxds

https://community.esri.com/ideas/15338-allow-arcgis-pro-catalog-pane-to-copypaste-toolboxes

Pro is in active development and we're closely tracking equivalency items such as these and working to close the gap.  I encourage you to remain active on the Ideas site to show your support of functionality that is most important to your work, and provide meaningful contributions as you see fit.

Thank you!

ArcMap 10.7 will be around until March 1st 2025, if that helps
