Creating Attachments to Footprints

Hi,

I am working with Mosaic Datasets in ArcGIS 10
Is it possible to enable attachments on the footprint feature class in a Mosaic Dataset to support linking of multiple documents to each source dataset footprint. I have used a relationship class and a seperate table with hyperlinks, but it requires a copy of the footprint feature class be exported and a primary key for defining the 1:M relation be maintained in the featureclass.

Is there any detailed documentaion specific to the columns in the footprint featureclass?

Generally, one field with type 'text' (PDF) in the table should be added, saying 'hotlink'. Here, you should make sure that the length of the field is enough for your (IP - or http-dependent) hyperlink across your organization.

Then, you can edit and add your hyperlinks to the features.

Finally, users can view via Identity or others, and open those hyperlinks in IE by right-click in desktop ArcGIS, when needed.

In practice, for flexibility, it is better to create a separate feature class in a File GDB, and then join with your Mosaic Dataset, as long as both share same unique field.

Then, under 'Edit' session you can add the hyperlink (with http or IP-dependent text) into the field 'hotlink' in the footprints.

Finally, end users can remotely view it via many ways like 'Identity'. For example, right-click on it within desktop ArcGIS. The hyperlink will be displayed in IE.
