Let the Draw widget create geometry from typed distance or radius values

The Draw widget currently only shows measurements after you finish drawing a line, polygon, or circle, there is no way to type in a value first and have the geometry generated for you. If you need a 100 meter buffer line or a circle with a 50 meter radius, right now you have to draw it freehand and hope you land close, then check the result and redraw if it is off.

Web AppBuilder actually solved this years ago in the Distance and Direction widget, you could enter a radius or diameter and it would draw the circle at the exact size. That functionality never made it into Experience Builder. Bringing it back, letting users type a distance, radius, or diameter and having the tool draw the exact line, circle, or polygon on the map, would save a lot of trial and error for anyone doing site checks or buffer analysis in the field.

Hopefully I understood correctly what you are looking for.

The Draw Widget has a Tooltip option in the Draw Settings dropdown. This setting much be enabled by default for end users. Once enabled, a white measurement box will appear next to the cursor while drawing and display the distance.

The only feature the Draw Widget does not provide, to my knowledge, is creating a buffer after drawing.

See the screenshots below for reference.

@JudithWammack, thank you so much. This is what I was looking for. Now, the next thing would be whether we can add a typed-in value and then get a line or circle of that specified length or radius. Do you know if this is currently possible?

JudithWammack

@MariusVerdes to my knowledge, I do not believe we can put in a specific length or radius. I believe that would be a good edition to Experience Builder. I haven't received any of those requests from my end user, but I bet once they learn how to do it they will like it better. If you put in another idea of just the typed in value, I give you kudos for it. More kudos the more likely they will implement the idea.

@JudithWammack You can kudo this idea, as I already mentioned the typed-in value. Thanks
