Hi -

I have been trying to create my first Enterprise Geodatabase and it is not going smoothly. I keep getting an error with the Authorization file stating "parameter is missing or invalid" and I copied the keycode from where the information icon stated to get the keycode from.

I have a case open with Esri about this and we have gone through various troubleshooting, but still no luck. The case is still open and hopefully Esri IT can help, but in the meantime I thought I'd reach out to see if others have come across a similar issue.

Thanks for any insight to this issue.

if you navigate to the keycodes file, and open it in a text editor, do you see one line that starts with arcsdeserver?  And what's it's expiry data/version?

No I do not see that line at all nor a date.

So basically you haven't got a license for the Enterprise Geodatabase and need to take it up with your local Esri (or Distributor) licensing team.  🙂

ah, so you're trying to create a workgroup geodatabase in SQL Server Express, and not an Enterprise Geodatabase.  Sorry, subtle change in terminology but it means quite a lot.

My apologies, I'm still learning all this. It's new to me. Thanks again for you help!

No need to apologise.  We all have to learn and I only know this because I've worked with ArcGIS Server since it's first release and the Enterprise Geodatabase before that.  Have a read of the doco, it's a shame we need to use ArcMap for managing the workgroup geodatabase though.  😞

So that licensing is only for Workgroup geodatabases, which are based on SQL Server. Here is the docs for Workgroup (Database Servers): https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/manage-data/database-servers/overview-database-servers.h...

If you need to use an Enterprise RDBMS then you will need ArcGIS Server Basic license at the minimum.
