Hello,
We have an ArcGIS for Server single machine deployment (active passive), is it possible to federate with Portal for ArcGIS?
i know that it is feasible in active active mode, but i have doubts that it might work in active passive mode.

No, it won't work if you have an active and passive ArcGIS Server, as they're separate sites. My suggestion is to create a two machine server site and federate the site to Portal.
