Create a Public Dashboard without editing sharing of feature layers

I am trying to create a public facing dashboard for a project to give a quick overview of associated conditions of stormwater structures within a given Municipality. When trying to share the link, a sign in is prompted, the map cannot be opened and there is a data source error associated with the dashboard elements. Is there a way to have the dashboard be able to be viewed by the public without making the map and feature layers shared with everyone?

Hi @SeanNagy1, 

It sounds like you could benefit from using hosted feature layer views. Creating different views of the same dataset gives you options. 

Imagine you start with Dataset A, which is editable and shared with everyone. Then create 2 separate views:

1. View 1 of Dataset A - Not editable, shared with everyone
2. View 2 of Dataset B- editable, shared with group of data editors

You can use View 1 in public facing, read only apps like dashboards to share information with a wider audience. You would use View 2 in other apps aimed at data editing or data collection, where a few select people can edit the data.
