With the release of the new Utility Network and with it Branch Versioning, is it possible to take branch versioned data offline in collector?

Obviously using complete 10.6 implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise with an SQL back end.

Thanks!

Hi Hamish,

With the current release of Collector for ArcGIS (v19.1.0) we support offline editing and sync with the Default version just as ArcGIS Pro does today. This can be quite useful for field data collection workflows where you are capturing new information directly into your enterprise geodatabase.

Currently planned for ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 is support for offline editing and sync with a branch that you have published. This will then bring forward the maintenance workflows where you want to institute a QA/QC process and perhaps manage potential issues where multiple field workers edit the same features.

Thanks!

From this, it seems that this may not be possible yet: Offline maps and versioned data—Documentation | ArcGIS Enterprise

Note:

These options do not apply to data that is registered as branch versioned.

Hi Hamish,

FYI, I can confirm that currently branch versioning is only supported by ArcGIS Pro.

(see the branch versioning section, limitations)

Hope this helps,

Hamish -

This functionality is planned for the 10.7 release.  Sync for branch versioned data will initially be supported from ArcGIS Pro as the client on the default branch version.

Here is the updated documentation for the latest 10.7 release:

Hi Melissa Jarman

My initial question was whether we are able to take branch versioned data offline within Collector for ArcGIS. Are you aware if this is going to be implemented at any point?

Thanks!

Jeff, Could you provide more information regarding branch versioning and Collector?

  • Does the service need the version manager capability?
  • Would the default version be locked when editing connected?
  • Would the default version be locked when syncing offline edits?
  • What would happen to other clients like ArcGIS Pro if the default version is locked?

Hi Jeff,

Could you confirm that the support for offline editing and sync with a branch is still planned for the 10.8.1 release?

Thanks,

Joep
