The June 2024 update of the Business Analyst Widget in Experience Builder includes the following new features:

1. Public sharing

The Business Analyst widget can now be configured for use in a publicly shared Experience Builder app. To enable this functionality, the creator of the app will need to authorize GeoEnrichment using their own subscription when publishing the app, and then share the app publicly. The creator of the app must also share any custom infographics and contents publicly for the Business Analyst widget to work properly.

When the Experience Builder app is shared only with the organization, members of the same organization including those without GeoEnrichment privileges can access the Business Analyst widget after signing in. When the app is shared with everyone (public), anyone outside your organization can also access the widget without signing in.

Note: The credit consumptions by the Business Analyst widget will count towards the organization when the app is published by authorizing GeoEnrichment. We recommend being cautious when sharing your application publicly. The Business Analyst widget provides additional configuration options to limit infographic exports and GeoEnrichment request rate limiting when publishing the app. However, setting a low request limit is not recommended as the widget makes several GeoEnrichment requests that do not consume credits. When the GeoEnrichment request limit is exceeded, users will not be able to use the Business Analyst widget. Click here to learn more about these configurations.

2. The user interface has a refreshed new look

The search and buffer steps of the workflow mode have been redesigned.

3. Polygon feature styles

The styles of polygon features in a web map are now preserved when running infographics by selecting those features. Previously, the infographics only showed the polygons with red outlines that caused accessibility issues for color blindness.

4. Data updates

The Esri 2024 data update is here. That means the Business Analyst widget will now include updated infographics with the latest data sources.

  • If your existing widget is previously configured with Esri 2023 data for United States, the infographics will continue to work as expected. However, to get the latest infographics with Esri 2024 data source, you will need to edit the app and select the new data source, and then the updated infographics. If you have any custom infographics (My/Shared infographics), you will need to complete the update process in the Business Analyst and Community Analyst web apps first.

  • Due to the deprecation of the Esri 2021/2022 data sources, you will see this message if your existing widgets are configured with these data sources. To update to the latest data source, edit your app and select one of the latest data sources available. You can learn more about the data deprecation in this blog article.

  • Important: If you have an older app created sometime in 2023 with Esri 2023 data source (USA), you might see this error message as well. In this case, you will need to edit the app and re-configure the widget with desired data source and re-select the infographics list if using the Workflow mode, and re-select the preset infographics if using Preset mode. Then save and publish the app.
