In the October 2025 release of ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App and Mobile App, planned for October 22, 2025, significant changes are being made to the Canadian Advanced Demographics dataset: HouseholdSpend data. These changes may influence policy, retail site planning, and market targeting.

Esri integrates Environics Analytics data to power key demographic and spending insights for ArcGIS users. The Canadian HouseholdSpend dataset helps users understand affordability and consumer behavior. These changes made to the survey or data impacting HouseholdSpend data could impact you or your organization by shifting segmentation results which can influence how businesses and governments use Esri data for key decisions.

Customers who rely on Environics Housing Spending survey data will need to take several actions to adapt to the October 2025 changes. They should begin by:

  • Reviewing the list of new and removed variables
  • Updating any dashboards, saved analyses, or automated workflows that reference the deprecated attributes.

These resources will remain accessible through 2026, giving customers sufficient time to adjust to the changes and maintain the accuracy of their analyses.

For more details on this change, see the ArcGIS StoryMaps story authored by Esri Canada's representative Paul Voegtle: '25 Canadian HouseholdSpend Variable Changes.

Please note:  Fixing infographic report variables requires an ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App Advanced license, or ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro license. Those customers with a ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App Standard license will not be able to resolve any infographic or classic report variable issues.
