There are two FlexNet Publisher processes in use, the lmgrd daemon will default in the range 27000-27009, and the Vendor specific daemon--ARCGIS. The later has no established default range. Both can be set to specific ports (traffic poling volume is actually pretty low) by edits in the service.txt file. One license pool can support ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and CityEngine concurrent and SingleUse NamedUser seat delivery. Details for configuring the port assignments for the FlexNet Publisher license pool are in this help guide: Configure ArcGIS License Manager to work through a firewall

ArcGIS Pro installer is provided for download via the AGOL portal. No need for the hassle of establishing a my.esri.com portal account for students. Download link is found on their profile in the Licenses tab. Note: the offline built-in help, and Data Interoperability extensions for ArcGIS Pro are not. But are not routinely needed by every student. Simply provide them a network share (CIFS or OneDrive cloud) to pick up the installers. Just as is needed for continued use of ArcGIS for Desktop installers and the needed Single Use authorization files.

Current state is yes with caveat that there is no legal license/RTU for the Windows 64-bit ARM build on Apple Silicon chipsets like the ARM M1, M1 Pro or M1 Max. See the related thread for more discussion of results with Parallels and situation with VMWare's Fusion: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/arcgis-pro-amp-desktop-on-apple-m1/td-p/1063294

Michael, Just checked and it is there. Don't look in the Desktop 10.8.1, rather do a "quick search" from the All Versions tab and enter "ArcGIS License Manager" the 2021.1 build is found. Stuart

Nope! Just because you can does not make it legal or ethical. Microsoft does not intend for Insider Previews to be run on ARM hardware/os combinations other than what they support (think Surface Pro X). The ARM 64 Windows os is available for OEM working on Microsoft approved architecture. That aint Apple M1 ARM. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/developers/get-started https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/troubleshooting Do this at your own peril--or your employer who's purchased an ArcGIS Pro seat for you. Sorry that you are stuck with an unsupported M1 Apple, but that is the current state--legally.

Two issues; one, Microsoft does not license its ARM 64 Windows you are violating your Insiders Preview use conditions; two, Windows ARM driver support for perifireals (digitizers, scanners, printers) is not there. Parralels bit, but VMWare is taking a pass for its Fusion product [1] until Microsoft's Windows 10 ARM licensing is clarified. Meanwhile this is not legal. Supposedly Microsoft is working on its own ARM Risc implementation--why would they license their ARM based Windows for use on M1 chips? They might, but why should they aid their competition? Nope! Still just the ARM Insider Preview, no functional support of x86 based VMs. As Brian notes above, ArcGIS Pro will not run on ARM (nor will ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcCatalog). <clip> (from https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/resources/#requirements) Supported Guest Operating Systems (Mac with Apple M1 chip): Only ARM versions of operating systems are supported. Windows 10 on ARM Insider Preview Windows on ARM can run most of the regular Windows x86 applications. You can download the Parallels Desktop trial and install the application you need. If it doesn't work, let us know at Parallels Forum. Ubuntu 20.10, 20.04 Fedora Workstation 33-1.2 Debian GNU/Linux 10.7 Kali Linux 2021.1 <clip>

Kyle Fuller Pretty much any PORT number above the 1024 range. But, a good idea to avoid any ugly surprises to check the port number you pick for any well knows Service Name or Port number assignment, most conflicts would be benign--but if you will be poking holes in firewalls to pass the traffic, worth a check: https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.xhtml?&page=1 And, FYI here is the Esri documentation on configuring the FlexNet Publisher based License Server: Configure ArcGIS License Manager to work through a firewall—License Manager Guide | Documentation Stuart

Kyle Fuller You can not set a FlexNet Publisher lmgrd daemon to the same port as the Vendor (i.e. ArcGIS) daemon. Fix the VENDOR ARCGIS PORT=27000 assignment. Best to not use a port assignment from the default range for lmgrd 27000-27009, and be sure to open firewall to both TCP ports. Stuart

Well it depends, as the education EVA codes are 1yr seats, how much time was left on that authorization? If most of the year is up, probably not worth the hassle. But there is a rearm process that you can work with an Esri Customer Service Representative for your schools account of with an Esri Technical Support ticket. But easier to get help if you know your schools Esri customer number--have to contact your school's Esri contract contact and at tthat point simplest to just get them to issue you a new 1yr student EVA authorization code.

EVA trial codes are not handled the same as ESU single use authorizations. If you are on a trial code you possibly can arrange for it to be 'rearmed' by contacting Esri CSR or Tech support. For paid Single Use seats where you have access to the my.esri.com account portal there is the self-service 'Recover Lost Licenses' tool. For users at academic institutions with Education program licensing--simplest to obtain a new EVA12345678 authorization code, and activate it against your individual Esri account and use the new code to authorize the new seat of ArcGIS. As Curtis notes, and per Esri in Understanding how to use Microsoft Excel files in ArcGIS—Help | ArcGIS Desktop for Desktop you need the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Jet 4.0 support provided in the Office 2010 drivers, the Office 2016 build does not suffice for Desktop. But it is the correct DB provider to use .XLSX sheets in ArcGIS Pro.

Jörg, * Don't see too much reason for Esri to make the installers an open access resource--a student activating their EVA code is still a reasonable time for 'customer' intake--can't fault Esri for that. Especially as they still essentially give us the software. I've had to train my faculty not to invite students to our University's 'my.esri.com' portal just to be able to download Esri software and access the Esri.com/training. And, Esri suggests that we deliver the installers to students locally--including now allowing them to use the ESU provisioning files. So, use a centralized IT software store, or as I do with an internal ftp/MFT and post up the installers--then have faculty give that link to the students. Get yourself out of the middle. You can still issue the 1yr student EVA codes, and provision AGOL accounts for ArcGIS Pro and Esri.com/training access. Or you can obtain and issue the EVA codes in blocks to your faculty, and also train them to administer the AGOL portal for doing student invites. Stuart

You provide no details about the build of Windows you've installed to your Parallels VM. I would suspect that the Windows install to the VM needs attention/updates including the correct 32-bit Visual C++ runtimes. ArcGIS, like most programs, will run happily from a properly configured VM--you do not need a separate Boot Camp Windows partition--though the BootCamp driver set will be of use with the VM--Parallels or Fusion takes care of that for you.
