Recently we updated a survey. When we use the export functionality on the data tab on survey123.arcgis.com to export the data as an Excel Spreadsheet we can see the new fields and columns associated with these additions. When our users attempt to do the same export from survey123.arcgis.com to Excel Spreadsheet they can only see the fields and columns associated with the previous version and not the additions that were made. Do you know what might cause this issue with us as admins being able to see the fields in the export but not our users? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Asking for the best way to accomplish this. Here's what we are doing. We have a survey that is used twice daily for water calculations. The field personnel would like to see a 30 day rolling average of what has been collected. Also if no collection is done we need to know that it's actually a null value day. Example: So if we collected Sunday through Wednesday, skipped Thursday, and collected for the next 26 days you'd actually have 30 out of 31 days of collection. But since we did not collect on that Thursday, the first day I mentioned in the example (Sunday) would be outside of the 30 day rolling calculation, so it wouldn't be included. But now we have 29 out of 30 (Monday through Wednesday, a skipped Thursday, and 26 days straight starting on that Friday). So the final calculation for our 30 day rolling average would need to readjust itself to take everything, add it together, and divide by 29 and not 30 when skips happen. Most of the time it will be nonstop. That's what they're supposed to do, but I want that safeguard just in case there is the chance of a day being skipped. Would anyone at Esri know how to accomplish this? The most important part is how to track a 30 day rolling average on Survey123 collected data. Is Operations Dashboard the only viable option? #30 Day #Rolling Average

I know this is late in the game for the original post but we have developed our own reporting tool using FME Desktop to generate PDF reports twice a day for data and pictures captured in Survey123 in the field. We run it from FME Server and it pulls everything we need from the last 12 hours (Since they wanted these reports at the end of each 12 hour shift) and puts it into a PDF layout we have designed via the software. It attaches the PDF to an email we designed and is sent to whoever submitted the survey. We also use a list stored on ArcGIS Online where we keep contract company emails so that it will also be sent to everyone from that particular contract company that needs to receive it. We also specify email recipients internal to the company who have an interest in seeing the data that is being captured. The look is a no frills look, but that's exactly what we wanted. This is the email generated: Following is the PDF we generate:

Is there a way to capture the current version of Survey123 in a form (as a field)? I'm not talking about a version of the form or a version I've assigned to a survey. What I'm talking about is the actual current version of the application itself (For example Version 2.0.41). We have quite a few people capturing data, but have encountered issues with them not upgrading to the latest version. We'd like to be able to verify they are using the most up to date version.

Does anyone know when Esri plans to address and fix the User role associated with being able to submit surveys without getting the screen of death "GETTING SERVICE INFORMATION" bug? We've got numerous contractors in the field using the Survey123 for ArcGIS app with elevated permissions. In doing that, it is allowing them access to all of our data just so they can simply submit a survey. The User role and Publisher are still useless and this is a bug that has been reported since December. Does anyone at Esri have a workaround different than the one I posted that allows our users to see everything (which blows away all security we'd like to have on our data)? This bug needs to be elevated to critical if a valid workaround does not exist. The integrity of our data is at stake.

HELP!!!! I have a rush job and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this to work. Here's the deal: User selects one (select_one) calculation type for volume from a list of 6. For our example let's just say: 1. Times 10 2. Times 20 3. Times 30 4. Times 40 5. Times 50 6. Times 60 Next ... They are prompted to enter a volume. Let's say they enter 3 Let's say I chose option 4 in the select_one area above. So with my input of 3 they calculated value would be 120 (That's 40 X 3). So what I need to know is how I can do a calculate on the fly to look at their select_one choice for the calculation type for volume and then multiple it by the number entered. Storing that number that's been calculated in a single field and displaying it for the user.

We've been using Survey123 for quite a while and have been very happy with the results. For us it is fairly easy to extract the data we wish to store and use for reports by utilizing ArcGIS GeoEvent Server and FME Desktop. But our goal has been to put survey making into the hands of our field personnel allowing them to build surveys and easily extract the data (for hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly reporting) with no need to have it stored within SDE or a file geodatabase. What we are truly after is empowering the users to use Survey123 without us being the admins of their projects. I want to know from the Survey123 team if they have discussed building a tool to sit on https://survey123.arcgis.com that allows users to download flattened out reports. Basically reports that have all answered questions in a survey, along with repeat section answers, and all associated photos for each survey submitted. EXAMPLE: Let's say they capture water wells on a property. This example is basic and not what we do, but I wanted to make it clear so I came up with this simple example. The parenthesis represent the different items created with this small example. Currently 4 would be created below (1 main and 3 attachments). (Main 1) Property name (Main 1) Property address Begin Repeat (Attachment 2) Well Name (Attachment 2) Well Number (Attachment 3) Take photo of well End Repeat (Main 1) Additional property comments (Attachment 1) Signature What we'd like to see Esri do is rather simple. Allow a report to be generated that looks like this ... Let's say 3 wells were captured on Property 1 and 2 wells captured on Property 2. That would actually make 5 rows if the data is flattened out. Please see the Excel attachment I've included for an example of how the requested final report would look. I'm using Excel in my example, but we wouldn't care if it just sat on https://survey123.arcgis.com as an additional option. I just know we need a better option than what currently exists because the only thing you can presently see at the Survey123 site are the answers associated with "Main 1" above. Which means of the 7 things captured representing one single survey, only 3 out of the 7 are viewable. (Main 1) Property name (Main 1) Property address (Main 1) Additional property comments Again we don't want to store it on SDE or have to be admins by creating everything in ArcGIS GeoEvent for Server. We'd like to see Esri use some resources to flatten out this data for all of its users. I think it's beneficial and would be an incredible selling point for the Survey123 application. Thanks in advance for any answers Esri can provide.

James, Through research we have discovered why this issue is still showing up for some people (All of our Survey123 users were encountering it (Whose role was USER)). We have been able to correct the issue by creating a new role in ArcGIS Online (We're calling that role: Survey123_User) and applying that role to any Survey123 user that had previously been assigned the default USER role. We knew this was an issue related to roles once a person tried 3 different devices and got the same issue each time. When we elevated their role to ADMINISTRATOR just for a test submission in Survey123, they were able to submit surveys without issue. So this proved to us it was definitely role related. After tweaking certain permissions we developed a role that is similar to the default USER role. Here's what we believe has happened ... We think the USER role has been corrupted somehow with a recent update to ArcGIS Online (We've shared this bug information with Esri Technical Support too). It looks like the issue resides in the Content under Administrative Privileges. BOTH “Update” and “View All” need to be turned on (We believe it is no longer turned on in the default USER role). We tried it with just Update checked and it didn’t work. Please see the screenshot I've included for a reference of the role’s complete setup for any Survey123 users out there still encountering the "Getting service information" bug. Please note that our users are now having 100 percent success with this configuration. Thanks! Tony

OK this is strange. We understand the "Getting service information" bug was fixed in the 1.10.25 January 2017 release. But we just did a major overhaul to a survey causing the schema to change. Everyone can hit this survey, download, fill it out, and submit it with no issues ... EXCEPT ONE GUY. No matter what device he uses and he's tried his android phone, his iPad, and his laptop ... They all give the dreaded GETTING SERVICE INFORMATION bug. Today we've had him delete and download the survey. We've had him disconnect from wifi and use his phone network. We've had him delete the Survey123 application from all devices, redownload from app store, and redownload the survey. Basically we've tried everything humanly possible at this point and he still has the issue. He was collecting the day before we updated, and now the update has totally blown up his ability to submit surveys. Could this be a random user credential issue tied only to submitting (Because he can access and download surveys, so he is logged in)? FYI: We got his Enterprise login username and password from him and I logged in on my device which collected without issue prior to using his credentials. Under his login ... on my iPhone ... It reproduces his GETTING SERVICE INFORMATION error. So the error is definitely tied to him. HELP

I'm not sure if this has been asked or not. Has anyone encountered this issue while using an Enterprise login for Survey123? Here's the quick rundown. If we log into ArcGIS Online with our Enterprise login and then select the apps button and open Survey123 it allows us to log into Survey123 online at https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys successfully and all surveys created by the individual can be seen. But if we log into https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys directly as an Enterprise login without first interacting with ArcGIS Online as mentioned above, then once it logs you in, there are no surveys visible. It appears to corrupt the login. For our example let's say we plug in the following value (After choosing Enterprise Account as our login option) when prompted with "Enter your ArcGIS organization's URL below:" This is a fake value, but for the example let's say we input user (making it user.maps.arcgis.com as our fake ArcGIS organization's URL) and then we finish logging in using our Enterprise Credentials (username and password you typically use for accessing your computer) which in this example we'll use TestUser@Testing123.com as the email. When we finish logging in we should see the username as TestUser@Testing123.com_user When you log in like I mentioned first through ArcGIS Online and select the Survey123 app from the apps list you can log in and see your created surveys. You username shows up correctly. But if you skip opening ArcGIS Online first and go straight to https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys and log in, it corrupts the username shown. When you click the profile button which displays the email address (in our example it would read TestUser@Testing123.com) The username shown looks like this: TestUser%40Testing123.com_user We understand that %40 is the symbol and number used to represent "@" but it is our feeling it shouldn't be here under the username and is the reason you cannot log into https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys without logging into ArcGIS Online first. Can someone at Esri or someone familiar with what I've explained in regards to Enterprise Account logins test this out and see if they encounter the same bug I've discovered? If there's a workaround (Esri?) could you please share it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

John we do this with GeoEvent Server and it works great and is almost instantaneous once the survey has been submitted. We also use Survey123 and build in warnings so it displays a contact number of the group that deals with values being out of range for a particular question. This allows the user to click the phone number shown to immediately call the person. You could do the same with an email address I'm sure.
