Edited: Original post was on the initial update. Edited 25.2.1Update After the original Android update 25.2.1. One of our field staff reported that the taking photo attachments is causing crashing on a Samsung Galaxy Active Tab 3. I got an update from our field staff and after further use seems like it caused the screen to turn back, and they have reverted to the Samsung Camera. Post 25.2.3 Update: The camera crashing issue seems to be mostly fixed, but there seem to be other related crashing issues with photos related to more complex activities. "When editing a line and having vertices added to the line the app will usually crash when taking a photo, it will not crash if you submit the edits and then re-open the line to take the photo. If the tablet is open and the screen is able to rotate the rotation will aggressively zoom out and sometimes crash if rotating too much in rapid succession. This can be fixed by locking the screen and it does not seem to effect internal camera horizontal use. With snapping on, when I open a line, the cursor seems to default to the last point and when tapping the button to center on me it will not leave the snapped point without first dragging the cursor off that snapped point."

Hey @KrisianZurawski I do a bit of a bit of a hack on my cross sections for the scale. I create a 3d line feature to use for the scale for display. I create that line in a 2d map. I then apply a vertical elevation that I want for the to and bottom. I create vertical bounds for the start and end editing in the 3d view from those endpoints. I then use the "create points along a line" geoprocessing tool to create the scale tic labels. For the vertical scale I do the same thing. I use the 3d symbols to make it look nice. This is a screen shot of what that looks like.

Hey Josh, I am sorry you are having so many issues. It sounds like you were able to get this to work? You were able to create that for export basemaps that are authorized by a "named user". Couple of tips. If you have a project that already works, but you need a special basemap (or more than one basemap) you can go to the "add layers" and start to add it as a layer. When you click anywhere on the layer (but not the plus button). This will allow you to see the option to choose "Use as basemap". This will then replace your existing basemap. You can add other imagery in as layers in the map that will work for export as well as long as they are configured property.

Hey Andrew, I had some issues with this before as well. It seems like it used to be easier to make the changes after the fact. Like KPyne said it is easier in Pro. You can change the symbology after the fact in the visualization settings of the hosted feature or in the webmap. You then can use the template editor in "Field Map Designer" ("Field Maps" - in Portal) to match that symbology. Make sure the field that you want to match is filled out correctly in the default values.

Hey Royce, As I understand it a named user account must authenticate the basemap layers using their ARCGIS Online account in portal. 1) Navigate to the layer you want (World Topographic Map - Overview (arcgis.com). 2) Then copy the rest endpoint. 3) Log into your enterprise portal. 4) Go to content and add "new item" 5) paste the rest url and then use your arcgis online named username and password to authenticate on the next page. Hope this works for you. Cheers, Joe Joe

I have been having this same/similar issues. I noticed this issue really start up in the last year or so with our Samsung Galaxy Active Tab 2 &3 tablets. I have seen crashing when photos are being taken, but also when just points were being collected. These might be two separate issues specific to these Samsung tablets. I have seen a couple of things that anecdotally might be helping. 1) In the settings make sure scene optimizer and shot suggestions are off. I have turned off some other settings as well. My assumption here is that these settings are using more memory to process photos. 2) I wasn't sure if there were some changes that happened on the backend of ESRI's ArcGIS online and portal environments. I created some brand new feature classes using the online tools and collected data. Doing this the crashing didn't seem to happen. I noticed that there were some changes to the ESRI GNSS metadata and possible some restricted fields names (eg: type) that I had in my features.

Hello, We are using Trimble R1s and Trimble DA2 external GPS devices to collect spatial data using ESRI field maps app on iPads. To use these devices we need to use a middleware app call Trimble Mobile Manager. As a company we are moving to using Shared iPad with Managed Apple IDs system managed through Jamf. As we have been rolling this out I have found that we cannot use either external gps with the tablet because they require access to local storage which is not allowed with the shared I-Pads. The situation that I have observed is that when you try to connect to the GPS in field maps it asks you to browse to the "mobile manager" folder. Since access to the file system is not allowed it won't allow you to use the device. So far as we have been able to find access to the file system is now allowed. Has anyone seen this situation or seen a workaround or are we missing something in the MDM? See my post in Trimble and Apple forums. Using a DA2 and Field Maps on a Shared iPad with Managed Apple IDs | Mapping and GIS Solutions Community (trimble.com) Shared iPad with Managed Apple IDs "Stora… - Apple Community Thanks! Joe G

@JamesTedrick I was searching how to do Standard Deviation in Survey 123 and found this post, thought I would tag it too with the answer. Appreciate all the good help you give James! This post helped me find what I was looking for. I was just trying to do live calculating Standard Deviation for samples in a repeat. I found an example in the "Samples" in Survey123 Connect called JavaScript Examples. This used JavaScript to calculate the SD for a "sample" (u-1) if you needed population it would need to adjust the formula. There is not a lot out there explaining this, would be nice if some of the s123 documentation was updated, SD seems like a pretty valuable tool.

@JamesTedrick @DougBrowning Thank you both for writing about this. I was having the same issue. I was publishing data through a portal. When using the custom URL on the IPAD tablet I would get the domain description, while in the webmap the domain code was being pushed though. This was causing issues with dependent questions as well as not creating consistent data. It looks like using the Data Functions Data Functions | ArcGIS for Developers "DomainCode" function to make it set the "domain code" or "DomainName" to force it to be the "domain description". It was a little confusing, but I was able to get to work by using the format: DomainName($feature, 'fieldName') and DomainCode($feature, 'fieldName').

Thanks Xander Bakker, This was helpful. I used this to pair with linear referencing to do some stationing in Pro. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/linear-referencing/an-overview-of-the-linear-referencing-toolbox.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/mapping/layer-properties/linear-referencing-hatch-symbols.htm

We were able to resolve this issue. For us the name of the R2 unit that was shipped with the device was too long for the ESRI name field. We changed that in the settings of the R2 device and were successfully able to submit data.
