My goal (if it's possible) is to have a (1) password-protected web application, with (2) secured web services, that is (3) accessible to users outside of my organization. I am able to achieve #1 and #3 together without any problems, but I cannot find a way achieve all three without my users having to, first, log into the site, and then provide the same credentials for every secured service that loads at start-up. My services need to be exposed to the internet so my external users can view them, but I would like them to be secured so they are not viewable to the public.

Hi William, I'm sorry to confuse you. I would like to secure services and expose them, over the internet, to users that do not have a user account in my network's windows active directory. I added them as a user in IIS, which provides them access to the web app, but what you're saying is that it's not possible to somehow pass the IIS windows log-in credentials to the secured services then, correct?

I believe what you're referring to is Single-Sign-On (SSO). SSO for Windows Integrated Authentication will work with ArcGIS for Server but I believe your users and roles all need to come from the same provider. In other words, I don't think you can use a mixed configuration whereby users come from the domain and roles come from the built-in store as an example. Hello, the way I understand it, you cannot use Integrated Windows Authentication if you have external users that need to securely log into your site. Is that correct? The article that you provided a link to states; "This tutorial demonstrates how to secure ArcGIS web services using Integrated Windows Authentication. Integrated Windows Authentication requires users and roles to be managed in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory server. It can be a convenient approach when you want your GIS users to take advantage of the accounts they already have on your network. You can use Integrated Windows Authentication when users have Windows domain accounts and access the services through a local network." There is no way to add external users to a Windows Active Directory server with internal user accounts, correct? I just want to make sure I'm interpreting this process correctly. The only way I've found for my external users to securely log into my web app using SSO (not have to provide credentials for each secured service which loads at startup) is to add them as a user in IIS server manager and turn off security for my services. This is not ideal since anyone who knows the service REST endpoints can view the services without a log-in, but at least it restricts anonymous users into the web app. Is there something that I'm missing? Should I be using a different security platform/work flow? I've read that using a proxy might solve my issues, but I've never been able to implement it correctly. I'm still on AGS 10.1 and my web app is using FV 3.0. Has AGS 10.2.x added any additional security functionality which allows external users to use SSO to gain access to a web app with multiple secured services? Thanks

No worries Anthony. I appreciate your help. I will check the objectID and shape fields to make sure they are turned on. Thanks

I take that back about the "max records returned" setting not being honored. If I do a graphical search against my sewer pipe layer it will return more than 1,000 records without any problems. It's only the text search that is generating the "Error #1009" error when trying to query/search out the 2,910 eight-inch pipes.

No. The query expression is simply DIAMETER = 8 and the search expression is DIAMETER = [value]. The " (inch) symbol is not included. It seems like the "max number of records returned" value is not being honored.

Hi Anthony, it's only when it's over 1,000 records. I have a sewer pipe layer that I'm querying/searching pipe diameter widths. There are no more than 500 of each diameter width except for one (8" pipes) which should return 2,910 records. If I run the query/search tool for every width except the 8" pipe the tool executes without any problems. It's just the one attribute value that I can't get the query/search tools to work correctly. The layer is being called from an Arc SDE database if that makes any difference. Thanks

I seem to be having the same issue (FV3.3). Whenever my search or query results in 1,000 or more records I get the "Error #1009" error. I've changed the "maximum number of records returned by the server" for the service that I'm running the query/search against from 1,000 to 3,000 in ArcCatalog (the most records returned for the service is 2,910 records). Is there any other settings I need to change? I didn't see a max records setting in the geometry service. Thanks, Joe

Hi Gerald, did you ever figure this out? I'm trying to add FEMA's ABFE WMS map to my FV 3.3 application with no luck. All I get is a blank screen when I try and turn it on as a base map. http://fema-services2.esri.com/arcgis/services/ABFE_pub/Preliminary_Work_Map/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS Thanks, Joe

I'm having issues when printing my FV 3.0 map to PDF. I'm using the standard Print Widget. The PDF file is successfully created in the ...\arcgisserver\directories\arcgisoutput\Utilities\PrintingTools_GPServer folder, but a "Page cannot be displayed" error is generated, in the new tab, on the browser side. I'm am not having any issues viewing printed maps in my browser if I print maps to JPG or PNG. I'm using IE8 and I am able to view PDF files from within my browser from other sites, which leaves me to believe it's not an IE8 issue. Here is my Print Widget code: <?xml version="1.0" ?> <configuration> <taskurl>https://<myservername>/arcgis/rest/services/Utilities/PrintingTools/GPServer/Export%20Web%20Map%20Task</taskurl> <title visible="true"/> <copyright visible="false"/> <author visible="true"/> <usescale defaultvalue="" visible="true">false</usescale> <layouttemplates defaultvalue="Letter ANSI A Landscape"/> <labels> <titlelabel>Printed Maps</titlelabel> <authorlabel>Notes</authorlabel> </labels> </configuration> Any ideas? Thanks

Has anyone figured out how to get the selected records and exported data grid table records to sort in order based on preferred field values? You can sort field records in the data grid table, but when they are exported the sorted records doesn't hold.

Okay thanks for your honesty. Looks like I won't be getting a solution for this anytime soon. I have another question regarding the way data is sorted in the exported csv file. I added the "asc|1|string" code for the data field that needs to be sorted in ascending order. It works perfectly in the datagrid results, but when I export the data to csv it becomes unsorted like the way it is in the search results. Is there a line of code that I'm missing in the config file that dictates the sort order in the search results and exported csv file? Thanks

Okay, no problem. I was just wondering if there was a way to print out the search results for users who do not have MS Office or are not savvy enough to modify the .csv/.txt files into a readable format. I can't think of any 3rd-party software that converts these file formats into a readable MS Word/PDF format. If I was working with the uncompiled version of FV would I be able to create "export to" functionalities in a web application?

Hi Robert, your eSearch widget is a great tool that I use to export out search results to csv format from the grid table. I was wondering if it was possible to add an Export to PDF to the search result window (not the grid table window)? I'm not a developer so I don't know how complex it is to add such functionally. No worries if you don't have any plans to add it. I really appreciate your contributions to the Flex Viewer community. Joe

Thanks Robert. If I interpret your response correctly, I can't have it both ways... If you add a layer to Flex Viewer and specify the type as "feature" than grouping is not possible... I will be able to identify related data in my layers using the InfoTemplate widget, but the layers can't be grouped. If you have layers grouped in the MXD, and add the layer to the viewer as type "dynamic" than the grouping will be maintained. I can group "dynamic" layers, but can't use the InfoTemplate widget to identify related data since the widget is only compatible with "feature" type layers (services).
