Hi again, Thank you again. 1. I checked my roles inside the Overview section of "view item details" pane for my web map . The web map is shared within a group I started. I do know that I was not the original owner of the web map, it was transferred to me, and now states I am the "owner" in the details view. Is there another place to check my role on this product? >> As you suggested,  I tested the "save as" for the web map plus a "save as" for the web app and pointed the new web app to the new web map. This indeed did allow me to update the alias name and make other changes in the web mep that translated to the app.** BUT, this still did not let me update data** 2. when I changed the values in the "data" section of the feature layer it saved in the feature layer but it did NOT update in the web map (the original nor the saved as copy I just made). I noticed in the settings of the feature layer, it says it is not enabled for editing because the layer is shared publicly.: "This layer is shared with the public. If you enable editing, anyone, including the public, can edit the layer". I now can't remember why this layer is public (perhaps because it is part of a group with external users?) but either way I want to edit values but we don't want the public to edit values. 3. I messed around and created a view layer off the feature layer in which I enabled editing in the settings - this let me make value changes in the web map and web app, which subsequently altered the feature layer. Still, it never updated the original web map linked to that same feature layer that I am trying to fix.   Thanks!!   ... View more

Katherine - THANK YOU! I appreciate you taking the time to explain editing features and how everything is connected. Perhaps when we configured our maps we accidentally disabled something but it seems that any edits I make in the feature layer still do not push through to the other layers. For example, I navigated to the feature layer's "Data" tab of the details pane and was able to update an alias as desired, plus I was able to update a handful of values in the table itself. However, these changes do not show up in the web map, and subsequently not in the web app. Inside the web map I am able to change the alias in the pop ups by making changes inside the "configure pop-up" pane. But, the map does not let me save these changes, there is only a "save as" option. Inside the web app, I see the "edit" widget and was able to click "customize" but when I open it in the app there is a notice that says "your account does no have permission to create or modify data or this web map does not contain any editable layers" (see image below). Can you speak to any of the above issues and the best way around it? If I were to recreate the web map and web app off the feature layer (or off a view) to be able to be edited, how do I do this without having to manually redesign both? **Also important, I want to be able to make these changes myself, but I don't want the public to be able to make the changes so I would not want an edit widget available on my public facing web app. THANK YOU!     ... Hi James, - I never had an issue with the HTML code loading previous to the 3.10 update. Have there been any advances to this? It severely changes the look and feel of the survey for the people I am asking to complete the survey - You mentioned above that I have the option to upgrade the links sent out - do you mean to say I can change the editable links so that the previous surveys have a link that would work in 3.10. Or are you just speaking towards changing the link for future surveys? Thank you ... View more

Thanks James Tedrick‌. I do have my settings to use the most recent version. This explains why my surveys links were failing with the recent update.  - I changed the settings to go back to 3.9 and the editable link for previous and new surveys now works. However, when the survey initially loads, all the code shows on the page for about 4 seconds before the survey renders correctly. Is there a fix for this? - If I remain in the 3.9 version, is it still advised to use the globalID moving forward in integromat? While It was advised to migrate to 3.10 I loose all previously submitted "edit survey" links, therefore I think I have to stay in the older version (3.9), is this right? Thanks! ... View more

hello again. I was able to update the syntax as you suggested as well as make the proper changes to use a globalID in integromat. However, for the surveys taken previous to this objectID change, the link sent to the survey taker to edit the survey is still not working. For example, if someone clicks on their link to edit the survey, they still get the error message when the survey opens: ""Editing is not possible because the objectId parameter is deprecated. Please use globalId instead."" Does this change away from the ObjectID break all previous survey links?? ... View more

I've been running an online survey since February via the Connect app (v 3.9.120). I enabled users to be able to edit surveys after they have been submitted (I use integromat, following:https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2019/05/24/survey123-tricks-of-the-trade-editing-records-in-a-web-form. ) My surveys are now showing the following error "Editing is not possible because the objectId parameter is deprecated. Please use globalId instead." I read in this blog that I need to migrate to the GlobalID but I am not clear on how to do this. Do you have specific directions on how to migrate to the globalID instead of the ObjectID in Integromat? Secondly, What will this change to the 100 survey responses I've received prior to now? Will those people who received links to edit their surveys no longer be able to edit their surveys?? If so, how would I reconcile this? Similarly, what does this do to data integrity? Thanks James. Reading the blog post you sent, I understand the premise but not how to follow through and fix the issues. Right now I use Integromat to send automatic emails to survey takers so they can go back and edit their survey. It was originally linked to the objectID in the URL ( "mode=edit&objectId"), do I now just change that to "mode=edit&globalId"? Where else do I make this change? How does this impact data collected to date based on the ObjectID? ... View more

Brandon Armstrong‌ and James Tedrick‌ Is there an update to this appending process since 2017/2018? I too have older survey with data in it that I want to transfer to a newer survey. There are some discrepancies between the two surveys, but where they match I would like to move the data. James mentioned the ArcGIS Online team was working on an on line solution back in 2017. This solution worked beautifully - thank you. I want to push this web map to a publicly accessible web app. When I do this however, I don't see the coordinates showing up. For example, I tried publishing the map as an "edit" web app via configurable apps so that people can add locations to the map. However, when I do this, only the editable features show, and not expression features, such as coordinates. Is there a work around for this? Do I need to use a different kind of web app? Thanks! ...
