Hello! Thanks for your patience in getting this reply. Here are some answers to your questions that I hope you'll find useful! What roles can control who can see what rows? The following roles can control who can see what rows: ArcGIS Online administrators, Publishers (who belong to the site's core team group), and the site/initiative manager (usually the person who created the initiative (and its corresponding site). By default, anyone (including community users) who are added to the initiative’s core team are automatically made “group managers” in the team. So long as they are Publisher or higher, they should have no issue selecting groups for private row access. How do I assign/change roles in the Hub or in the community group to members in the community group, but aren't in your organisation? If you are an ArcGIS Online admin, you can assign/change roles for any member of your ArcGIS Online organization. As you know, community members are housed in another ArcGIS Online organization that's totally separate from your primary org. This is commonly called your community organization or secondary organization. Only people who are community administrators can change the ArcGIS Online roles for community members. We typically recommend that community members have a Publisher role assigned to their account. This role allows them join groups (ie follow an initiative, sign up for an event, become a team member, and create their own content). The Hub community group – This group is just a group to which all community users are added when they get or create a community account. By default, community users who join a team, sign up for an event, or follow an initiative are added to the team group, event attendees group, followers group, respectively. And likewise, they can view private content shared with just the group, including rows. You can also create additional groups (teams) by adding supporting teams to your initiative and adding the users (community + employees from your primary org) to the group and setting private row access that way. You may notice the "groups manager" team role inside of a supporting team. You don’t have to worry about this role in terms of setting row access. It just means that anyone elevated to this role within a team has the ability to modify team description and settings; in view supporting teams, they can add other users' content; in view and edit supporting teams they can unshare content owned by any other team members. Keep in mind that the unique partnership between your main organization and the community organization is secured, so that community members can ONLY access the content available to them through a group. Regardless of their role within the community organization, or a group/team, they have no way to access any content belonging to your main org, unless you explicitly share it with them through a group. We are working to clarify this in the documentation, and in the meantime, welcome any feedback on this explanation. Thanks, Katie

If you use ArcGIS Hub or ArcGIS Enterprise Sites, you may have to change ownership of a site you own or someone else’s site in cases where responsibility changes hands. For a smooth transition of site content from one person to another, you can now use a simple Python script to automate this process. Install the ArcGIS Hub Python API Hub’s Python API (`arcgishub`) allows you to automate several ArcGIS Hub workflows using simple Python scripts. To get started, check out the ArcGIS Hub Python Library. For installation, refer to the Steps to Install. These steps also work for installing it in a notebook instance of ArcGIS Notebooks. Run the script to automate ownership transfer The two-step process to reassign an initiative or site to a new user is as demonstrated below. You start by first fetching the initiative or site and then assigning it to a new user. Click on the below image to see this example guide. Before you get started, review the following: Only the administrator of an organization has privileges to perform this task. ` target_owner` must be the username of a user who belongs to the same organization. If you wish to add this initiative to another organization, you may clone it instead. If you have sites created with ArcGIS Hub Basic or ArcGIS Enterprise, you can reassign them to another user using the same process with a slight change in the first step. You will fetch the site instead of initiative from the collection of sites (`myhub.sites.get(itemid)`). Manual workflow To complete this process manually, follow these steps: Sign in to ArcGIS Hub or ArcGIS Enterprise Sites as an administrator or site owner. On the overview page, click Sites (or Initiatives if you’re using ArcGIS Hub Premium). Open the site you want to transfer. Ensure that the new owner is a member of the core team by clicking the site's second dropdown menu and choosing Teams. Open the site’s core team and click the add team members button to add the new site owner to the group. Next, open ArcGIS Online by clicking the more button and clicking Edit in ArcGIS Online. You will complete the remainder of the workflow in ArcGIS Online. Ensure that the new owner has an ArcGIS account with your ArcGIS Online organization (or Enterprise Portal) and has at least the minimum privileges to create and manage sites or initiatives. Click on the new owner’s name and choose View Profile. Click View Settings and Licenses and look for the role. If you need to adjust the role, follow the steps provided in Assign a default role (for administrators) or Configure a custom role (initiative/site managers) if you don’t have this role set up yet. Un-share each item in the core team in ArcGIS Online. Items belonging to a Shared update group (groups that grant edit access to its members) cannot have their ownership changed until they are removed from the group. Click the My Groups tab and open the core team group. Click the item’s sharing icon. Click Edit group sharing. d. Un-check the checkbox for the group and click OK. Next, reassign item ownership to the new owner. This includes the Hub Site Application item and if you’re using ArcGIS Hub Premium, the Hub Initiative item. You cannot use the python script to reassign ownership of Survey123 items, but you can change their ownership manually in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. Click the sharing icon and choose View item details. On the item details page, click Change owner. Select the new owner and click Save. Share each item back to the core team group by clicking on the item’s sharing icon and clicking Edit group sharing. Note: It isn’t necessary to change the ownership of items belonging to the content and followers group, unless you are the item owner and need to transfer responsibility to the new owner. Repeat the process of removing items from the core team, re-assigning their ownership and sharing them back to the core team. Once all items have been shared to the core team group, change the ownership of the core team group to the new owner. Click My Groups and select the group to open its group details page. Click Change owner and select the new owner. Repeat the steps for reassigning group ownership for the content group and any additional groups added to the site using the groups manager. If you’re using ArcGIS Hub Premium, this includes reassigning ownership of the followers group. For more information, see the ArcGIS Hub documentation. Hey Jay, I'm wondering if it's because the initiative you're looking for is not in the content library (first image). All initiatives have a content library (a default ArcGIS Online group called initiative-name content group) to which the initiative site is shared. So if you're looking for an initiative site in another initiative's content library and that initiative wasn't shared with the content library yet, it won't appear.

Hey William, sorry to hear you're also experiencing an issue. We're thinking this might be due to privilege changes in ArcGIS Online. To help troubleshoot, what role is assigned to the account you're using?

Hi Kristen, The reason this workflow might not be working is because the site you link to points to a legacy site which is no longer supported by ArcGIS Hub as of September 8, 2020. Instructions for migrating your site are available here.

Hey John, Thanks for reaching out. Happy to provide some clarity 😊 The API Explorer will available on May 4th. You'll be able to find it in the following locations for items that have API access enabled: From /explore the info button opens the side panel where you can find a link that states I want to use this which pulls up options to provide a GeoService, OGC WFS, or OGC WMS link or customize a query with an additional option to Open in API Explorer. From /about (explore view > View Full Details), there will be an I want to section… that you can use to select View API Resources. This will bring up the same options available on the side panel when on an explore view. The API Explorer link provided in these options is directed to the /api route (e.g. data/:id/api). "Coming soon" on the Demo Site FAQs is in reference to the preview functionality which is currently unavailable. The copy has been updated to clarify this. - Katie

UPDATE: Previous versions of this article stated that consent notice and product footer functionality would be released on March 30th, 2021. This post has been updated to reflect a new release data of April 1st, 2021. Having views and sessions data is useful to understanding how your Hub sites perform over time. ArcGIS Hub collects this data for you using Hub Activity Tracking, optional tracking that powers your site's dashboard and helps us to improve ArcGIS Hub features and functionality. In addition to this out-of-the-box tracking, you can also add a tracking ID to your site's settings to analyze performance in Google Analytics. New privacy measures, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), establish guidelines for how site owners inform visitors of the tracking services they use. For this reason, the Hub team is releasing new settings on Tuesday April 1st, 2021 designed to help you follow policy regulations around tracking and consent when using Hub Activity Tracking and/or your own provider tracking. These updates include the following: A consent notice A consent notice allows visitors to accept or reject any Hub Activity Tracking and/or Google Analytics tracking used on a site. This consent notice will not appear to visitors upon arrival unless you enable it in your site’s settings. The notice will always be available to visitors so that they can review or modify their selection by clicking the Manage Privacy link in the new product footer. Copy is provided for sites using Hub Activity Tracking and includes a link to the Esri Privacy Statement. You can optionally add your own disclaimer text and privacy policy link to the notice. If the site doesn't use any tracking, the notice informs visitors that they're not being tracked. By default, the consent notice adopts your site’s theme, but you can change its styling to black and white. A product footer On the day of release, a new gray product footer will appear below any custom footer on all new and existing sites, pages, and views. Whether the site uses tracking or not, this low-profile footer cannot be removed, ensuring that visitors always have convenient access to a Manage Privacy link for viewing the site’s consent notice. For additional resources, see Tracking and consent FAQs. Questions? Let us know in the comments!

Hi Kristen! You cannot create a template of a Hub site in ArcGIS Hub Basic. However, you can clone your site. Cloning allows you to create a copy of the site and generates 2 fresh, default groups for you to use. The difference between cloning and templating is that a clone is copy of a site, whereas a template packages together all of the site's content into ready-to-activate copies for others to use. To clone a site, open the site in edit mode, then click the more button in the edit navigation bar to choose Clone Layout.

Hi Kristen, The 3 step article you've referenced does reflect the current workflow for creating sites with ArcGIS Hub (this includes your Open Data template). We're in the process of updating this article, but in the meantime, I want to clarify the roles and privileges needed for what you're looking to do. Anyone with a Publisher role can activate a new site or template, but they will not activate a complete site (includes a core team group for giving edit access to others + other workflows). For this reason, we recommend that people working with ArcGIS Hub have a custom role with a few additional Administrative privileges that are outlined here and here. Additionally, as long as you have the privileges to add and manage groups of items (included with Publisher), you can use your site's Content Library to select specific items or add an entire group of items (ie your open data). As my colleague Thomas noted in this response, be sure that your items are shared publicly and your Open Data template site has been shared publicly as well. This allows anyone to access your (open data) site and to view/search for your content through the site's search bar.
